Mr. and Mrs. Frank Wler and Roy and Amy Plank. Townsend olub met at the Com munity hall June 4. at which time Mr. Berger of Portland gave a talk which was enjoyed by all who heard him. About fifty wsre present. Mem bership of the Rogue River club has increased steadily and about 130 members are now enrolled. On June 3, Mr, and Mrs. Joe Shults. Mr. snd Mrs. R. C. Cu minings and children went to Hornbrook. Calif., to attend the funeral of Mrs. Shults' brother-in-law, George Rader. Mr. and Mrs. Sam Sandry are the proud grandparents of a baby boy, bom June 1, to Mr. and Mrs. Paul Woods at Olympla, Wash. The young man will answer to the name ol Don Lawrence. Dinner guests Sunday at the Fred Denglar home were Mr. and Mrs. O. A. Mathes and Mrs. Minerva Dengler of Grant Paas. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Magruson re turned June 5 from Ashland, where they spent a week visiting. They have purchased the two lots on the corner of First and Cedar streets and plan to build a summer horns here. Mr. and Mrs. Magruson live In Santa Monica, but like to speno the summers here. Mr. and Mrs. Theo. Nelmuth, Mr. and Mrs. Nat Hart and Mrs. Fred Dengler spent Friday afternoon visit ing Mr. and Mrs. Dan Chambers on Cherry creek. Mr. and Mrs. Chambers recently moved there from Rogue River. Mrs. Sam L. Sandry left Monday for Olympla, Wash., where she will visit her daughter, Mr. Paul Woods and family. While there she will also make the acquaintance of her new grandson. Visitors last Tuesday at the Tom Wilson home were Mr. and Mrs. George Balky and children of San Francisco, and Mrs. Nancy Wilson of Central Point. Saturday night a dance was given for the benefit of the Rogue River baseball team. About $55 was taken in during the evening. On Sunday the Gold Hill team played the locals on the diamond hers and Rogue River won by a large score. Preliminary work of oiling the streets started In Monday and souii Main street, from the hotel to Ward creek bridge, will be oiled. The Evans creek road from the edge of town to the Wiley Carter ranch ha already been oiled. Work on the new dredge of the Rogue River Gold Dredging Co. is progressing rapidly and It will soon b running with three crews work- lng 24 hours per day. On Saturday Frank Heath and Roy Hoi lister held the grand open ing of their new I. G. A. store. Many people thronged the store all day where many wonderful bargains attracted them. Music from the loud speaker was enjoyed by everyone, and excellent coffee was served to the public.
