Miss Ethel Houston of Medford spent Thursday and Friday with the W. M. Barkley family. Ten boys and ten girls helped Frances and Lloyd Nordqulst celebrate their tenth birthday at their home west of PhoeiUx. June 6. Games were played and delicious refreshments served by the twins' mother. The annual Ladies' Aid birthday party was held in the Presbyterian parlors Thursday. Ice cream and cake were served by Mrs. Coleman, Mrs. Boyd and Mrs. Caster. Besides the committee those present Included Mesdames Barkley. Brlcker, L. Brlcker, Anderson, Coleman. Coffin, Frame. The initial radio appearance of the Jackson County Community Radio band Friday nlte by remote control from the armory, during the roller skating marathon, was much enjoyed by local radio fans. Their next ap pearance will be at the Boy Scout Jamboree at Jackson Hot Springs. Mr. and Mrs. Mllo Furry and son. Leo, returned from Ivanhoe, Cal., last week. The party planned by the Thursday club In honor of Mrs. Edna Bourne Is to be held at the Watklns home at 7:30 p. m. June 15. Rev. and Mrs. R. S. Peterson of Medford were guests of honor at a farewell reception at the Presbyterian church Friday evening. A beautiful gift was presented to them by their many friends In the community. The Rile Cougle sawmill and pinner burned Thursday of last-week together with over 7000 feet of lum ber and Bill Lemmon's garage. The fire burned over some 50 acres be fore brought under control by local men and 20 CCC and state patrol men from Camp Wlmer. Mother Gllmore passed away at her home at Murphy Friday after a long Illness. Interment was in the Missouri Flat cemetery Sunday after noon. Rev. Schonce, pastor of the First Baptist church of Grants Pass officiated. The valley was favored with a lew warm days last week, ths thermome ter registering 98 Thursday and 99 Friday in the shade.
