Martin's "recent prompt and so far successful effort in handling the serious strike situ ation." is contained In one of three resolutions commending the governor, adopted by the Oregon Cattle and frorse Raisers' association at a recent meeting at Enterprise, copies of which were received at the executive offices today. The other resolutions commend the governor for tnterest shown "In the livestock industry of eastern Oregon by his assistance In the passage of suitable land bills, and his coopera tion in highway improvements In this section of the state." and for his ac tion in denying a pardon to Walter E. Baer, an alien against whom gov ernment proceedings are pending. rielB Support. In the petition for a pardon for Baer. sponsored by Grange and labor lenders of the state, the association sees "an attempt to embarrass the governor and an apparent attempt to unite agricultural interests with the radical or red element," the resolu tion endorses the action of American Legion officials in bringing the mat ter of Baer's three convictions and terms in the penitentiary to the at tention of Pomona Grange masters. Because the federal government Is seeking the deportation of Baer un der the law "that aliens who have committed two or more crimes and who have been convicted for the same shall be deported." the association expresses its approval "of the stand taken by Governor Charles H.
