Jl f SZWW MA "J J L SPORT PROGRAMS AND FEASTS FDR Wednesday will be a festive day for the 4600 men of the Medford CCO district! A general holiday, celebrating the second anniversary of the district. Is to oe celebrated and each of the 23 camps will take ad vantage of the one-day vacation with eporta, games and special din ners. Major Clare H. Armstrong, com mander of the Medford CCC district, declared May IB a special holiday. The Park and Forest service super visors of the district entered whole heartedly Into the plan and the men will be relieved from all work pro ject for the day. The cook and K. P.e will not get a holiday, though, for they will be busy with their chicken dinners, barbecue and various other celebration menus. The Medford district wa started May 15, 1933, with the arrival here of Major Armstrong. The district had 14 camps during t!ie first period, then dropped to 10, and In the period Juat closed had 27 camps, in addition to the headquarters de tachment. Temporarily, the district has dropped to 23 camps, but at least 33 companies will be In this district during the summer and por liepa others will be added under the president's enlargement program. The district's second birthday will be celebrated In a number of ways. Evans Creek and Wlmer camps are Joining In a field day at Wlmer. Track and field sports, baseball, vol ley ball, pinochle, bridge, horseshoes and a number of other games will be enjoyed, and a steer Is being bar becued to feed the men of the two companies. At 8cuth Pork camp, Inter-barracks sports will be featured. Includ ing boxing, baseball, horseahoea and track and field events. The Bouth Fork menu la typical of the menus. for the 93 oompanlea. It includes chicken noodle soup, fried chicken and gravy, creamed mash potatoes, lettuce and mayonnaise snlad, cream ed peaa and devils food cake. Re freshment will be served In the evening and the prizes for the day's events will be awarded. An lnter-barracka baseball game, boxing, field sport, a chicken din ner, and a dance In the evening with people of neighbor' commu nities. Invited, will be on U China Tlats program. Barnes Wild Animal Circus In special steel railroad trains with luxurious sleeping accommodations la a far cry from the little wagon shows that bumped their way over the ough country roads several years ago. On the circus lot the leading circus performers are likewise favored. If one le lucky enough to be ushered behind the mysterious red curtains, he will see several coey tents occupied by the different families and stars. There are private dressing rooms of the performers where they can rest between shows. Many new features will be shown with the Al O. Barnes Clrcua, this year. Imported Euroean acts will include The Dazzling Burbans, The Waltlers Troupe of comedy acrobats. The Barnettl Family of riders, Mabel Stark and her tipers, Captain Terrell Jacobs and his Juntrle-bred lions, the famous Belmont Family from Eng land, The Escalante Family and The Canastrelll Troupe. Attorney Kelly testified that after he had represented Fehl In the Nie dermeyer, Inc., suit and successfully carried an appeal to the state su preme court, Fehl announced his dls dlcharge as counsel and alleged the high court appeal was taken without authority. Attorney Kelly testified the appeal was taken on a contingent fee. Legal Business Heavy Methods employed by Fehl In the maze of legal maneuvering were brought out during the testimony and it was alleged that ha had rep resented to Ted Heimroth of Griffen Creek and J. B. Thomas of Ashland, who rendered financial aid, that he owned the entire business block on Sixth street when he only owned an interest In the Pacific Record-Herald building thereon: that he hsd trans ferred the 15,000 Judgment In the Parr libel suit to his mother-in-law, Corlnthla E- Btalley. and had cllamed a half Interest in the Holly theater building for promotion, real estate sales and work as construction fore man. The case is based on an award made to Fehl by a state supreme court decision amounting to between A6500 and $6000 against Niedermeyer, Inc. They are ready to pay and the Interpleader waa filed by them to determine to whom the money should be paid. The claims filed are double the amount of the Judgment.
