Mr. Ada Jolley, state W. O. T. U.
president, will bo guest speaker at
the bl -county institute to be held In
the parlors of the First M. E. church
Thursday, April 38. Delegations are
expected from Grants Pass, Ashland,
Rogue River and Reese Creek unions.
This will be an all-day session, the
morning session opening at 10 o'clock.
At this meeting reports will be given
by the presidents of the local unions.
Discussion on the Union Signal will
be lead by Mrs, Lulu Howard of Ash
land and on the Children's Farm
Home by a delegate from Grants Pass.
A covered dish lunch Ito be served
at noon, all ladles being asked to
bring a covered dish and sandwiches.
The afternoon meeting opens at 3
o'clock with a talk by Rev. Rosa
Douglas of Grants Pass on "Evangel-
Ism and Temperance." Several mem
bers of Medford union will present a
playlet, "Temperance Tides In Ameri
can History." Mrs. Ada Jolley will
give an address on "Alcohol; What la
Is, and What It Does." There will be
musical numbers at both sessions of

Mistletoe club will have a covered
dish luncheon Wednesday at the
home of Mrs. Dorothy Scilpter, 60
Rose avenue, at 1 o'clock. Members
who have quilt blocks are requested
to bring them at that time as the
quilt will be awarded at the follow
ing dug meeting. Members are also
to bring an article for the white ele
phant sale, which will be held at
this meeting.
Plans have been made and Invita
tions will be mailed to members of
the Town club for the first formal
dance to be held In the new quar
ters. The committee In charge
promises that It will be a gala af
fair and advises members to reserve
the date. Saturday night, April 37, for
the occasion.
Activities at the Town club have
given way largely during the past
week for preparations for Easter, but
when Its observance and special
events are concluded It Is expected
that many attractive spring parties
will make the club a popular center
for activities of the social throng.
The outstanding event of the past
week waa the dinner given Thursday
evening by K. W. Kendrtck as a fare
well party for A. J. McQee of Yreka,
special agent for Standard Oil Co.,
who has been transferred to Twin
Falls, Idaho. Twelve representatives
of the company were present.
Preparations are being completed
for the first bridge tournament for
active members of the club, which la
to be held Tuesday evening at 8
o'clock. Cash prizes will be given and
light refreshments will be served.
The committee which la receiving
reservations for the event Is Mrs.
W. F. Qulsenberry, Mrs. Edwin Durno
and Mrs. Frank Farrell. It Is ex
pected that about 30 tables will be
In play.
Tuesday Is ladles' day at the club,
and there will be other activities dur
ing the week before the formal dance
on Saturday night, which will mark
the end of the month.

the business hour of Pocahontas

here during the summer, and her
concerts at Southern Oregon Normal.

A graduate of the master class of
the Vienna State Conservatory, where
she waa winner of the first prize in
piano, ahe waa soloist with the Bach
Society in Vienna and has appeared
ui concert In Vienna, Sofia and
many other capitals of Europe. She
will play a large group of the meet
famous concert piano pieces In the
literature of music.
Lawrence Hubert Is a graduate of
the conservatory of music at Seattle,
who has studied with many of the
best teachers and concert artists on
the Pacific coast. He was with Ru-
blnoff and haa played In the larger
theaters In Los Angeles and San
Francisco, being musical director ol
national broadcasting station In
San Diego.
Mr. Hubert will play the famous
Mendelssohn Concerto, which Is one
of the most difficult concertos In
the repertoires of world famous violinists.
