MYSTERY GOLFER SEEN BY KIRK ON M IIK in LiniK Letter From Local Man Now in South, Praises Masked Player Advises Exhibi tion Game Medford Links A letter was received by the Mall Tribune today from John B. Kirk. Medford golf enthusiast, who for the last several weeks has been In the south. In the letter Kirk comment ed upon the Masked Marvel, a golfer of no mean ability who recently ap peared, masked, In a match at Tuc son. Ariz, and Is now In southern California, where he Is said to be ex citing considerable interest. The let ter, received from Santa Monica, fol lows: "Sports Editor, Medford Mail Tribune, "Dear Sir: "I was very much interested in reading the article In your March 27th edition on 'Masked Marvel of Oolf Latest in Sport Realm.' "It so happens that I had an op portunity to see this Masked Marvel perform, using only one wooden club and there is no question - but what he can do unusual things with a brasslo or any wooden club. It seems he Is planning to make a tour of California and possibly Oregon and Washington, it ne snouid be in your vicinity, X would suggest that the Oolf club use every effort to have him give an exhibition or meet some player of the club in a tournament. "In going over the list of the mem bers of the Golf club who are es pecially good with the wooden club. I am Inclined to think that, while this Masked Marvel Is pretty handy with the brassle, Bob Ruhl could take his brassle and make things very interesting for him and possibly de feat him. For, by the way Ruhl uses this particular club, I have often thought the other clubs he carried along were entirely superfluous. I hope the directors will not overlook trying to frame up some kind of a match, If the Marvel Is in that vicini ty, and if I should see him play again, I will try to find out some thing more definite as to his pro posed Itinerary for the next thirty to sixty days. "Just who this fellow Is and where he Is from, no one seems to know. He keeps his identity concealed and he Immediately disappears after a contest. But. he Is certainly develop ing a great deal of Interest in all his contests In this part of the country. I have enjoyed reading about the different tournaments In the Trib une the past three months and hope to be back In Medford soon to par ticipate In some of them. "Yours very truly, JOHN B. Simply concentrate on keeping the ball on alley. As soon as you can consistently roll the ball generally In the aam direction, pick out a spot at the foul line tnat it suited to the style of ball you bowl and roll from that spot. After you have practiced sufficient- i ly so you can handle the ball with fair control and rhythm, it is time to learn more about the correct placement of the ball. For the first or strike hall, form an Imaginary line to the i-3 pocket to the right of bead pin between the 1 and 3 pins and try to rcll ball on that line, starting from spot which you have selected at foul line If yen find it difficult to keep ball '.n right Diagram Number 1 SLATED THIS EVENING The recently organized Medford baseball club, under the managership of "Hoosler" Hoffard, who will also be an active player, were scheduled to hold a regular practice session this evening at the Senior high school field.
