The -county court, recently denied
the request for groups for use of the
auditorium, on regular weekly eve
nings. The resolution. In full, u passed
and signed by all three members of
the county court is as follows:
"Whereas, the demands for the use
of the County Auditorium,, located
In the Court House at Jackson Coun
ty. Oregon, have grown to such
proportion that It la becoming em
barrassing, and therefore evident that
some strict limitations concerning Its
use are absolutely necessary; and
"Whereas, It Is the belief of the
County Court that it is for the best
Interests of Jackson County that the
use of said auditorium be limited to
official county business and 'court
house activities, non-political meet
ings, and non-sectarian groups, none
of which meetings shall be held for
profit; and
"Whereas, ,the expense for heat,
light, and Janitor service la connec
tion with the use of said auditorium
Is becoming Increasingly more seri
ous; and
"Whereas, the sum of Two Dollars
($2.00) for a half day. or any part
thereof, and the sum of Pour Dol
lars ($4.00) for any evening would
be a reasonable estimate of the cost
of such expense,
"Now. Therefore, Be It Resolved
that the use of said auditorium shall
be limited to official eounty busi
ness and court house activities, non
polltlcal meetings, and non-sectarian
groups, none of which meetings shall
be held for profit; and, with the ex
ception of official county meetings
and county activities, a charge be
made of Two Dollars ($3.00) for
half day, or any part thereof, and
Pour Dollars S4.00) for an evening
for the use of said auditorium, and
that such sums so collected shall be
turned over to the General County
Fund.
"That this resolution shall be ef
fective from and after the 1st day of
April. 1935.
"Dated at Medford. Oregon, this
13th day of March. 1935.

Julius. Hagen of Giendale, charged
with parking an auto on a highway
was fined $5 and costs by Justice
of the Peace Wm. R. Coleman, and
allowed until April 1 to pay H.
Hagen plead guilty.
James Grove, charged with driving
an auto without proper lights, was
fined 95 and costs and allowed 30
days to pay. ,
Paul Meriam, Ashland chain store
manager, charged by Joseph V. Tomp
kins, of the state department ot
weights And measures, with "false
representation of the weight of mer
chandise," entered a plea of guilty
and was fined $15 and $4.50 costs.
The action was based on alleged
short weights of packages of dried
or evaporated fruits. The alleged
weight shortage was In ounces, and
due, Meriam contended through coun
sel, to the shrinkage of the mer
chandise after removal from bulk
containers.

Teachers Chorus
To Give Concert
Public Is Invited
The Teachers Chorus will present
a concert Tuesday evening. March
26, at 8:15 o'clock at Medford high
school. The members have been
working all winter under the direc
tlon of Mrs. Esther Leake and have
made considerable progress.
The program will consist of three
or four groups of songs by the
chorus and solo numbers by popu
lar local artists. The Gieemen will
appear and do one group of songs
with the chorus. The public is in
vlted. There will be no admission,
and the members, having enjoyed
working together, hope to give an
, evening of good entertainment for
those who enjoy music.

by Hittson from the Lucky 13 arm
Ruby mining claims, located In the
Elliott creek district of California.
The answer contends that inas
much as the mining property is etili
in litigation in the California court,
the suit filed in this county should
be held in abatement until a final
decision is made In the California
courts and the further contention
is set forth that Oreon courts have
no Jurisdiction. If Hittson prevails
In the California courts, the prayer
is made that the local suit be dis
missed and the costs assessed to the
plaintiffs.
A Siskiyou county, California, su
perior court decision in a suit Is at
tached to the answer. The decision
concerns property rights of litigants
in the Lucky 13 claims No. I and
No. 2, the Ruby mine claims, and
the Ruby mine claims extensions.
