(continued tomorrow) Communications Favors Tounsend Plan To the Editor: Never since the time of Christ, has there been a man like Dr. Townsend who Is trying to do so much for everyone. It is his life work to give to every one, regardless of whether they are a tramp, or a millionaire, that which Is rightfully his. That shows how unselfish he Is, and the faith that he has In human ity. His critics are only hastening the day, when what he Is Justly asking for will come to pass when they make the statement that It (cannot be done) only show how little faith they have In the patriotic home-loving people of tills good old United States of America. It was such a fantastlo dream, ai some of them would have us to be Ueve; why don't they get out their little crystal globe and tell us what to do, If they do know so much and are s patriotic citizen, and do not do so. they are a traitor to good govern ment, when there is millions without employment and plenty of people on the verge of starvation. In this land of plenty. Now you people that know so much about what ought to be done, come out In the open and let us know what It Is. I am sure that President Roosevelt and congress would be glad to hear what your solution would be. In times of dlrs distress like this no one should be backward In telling congress Just what ought to be done. They will Just Jump at the chance to serve you. P. J. KIRKPATRICK. Star Route. Box 57. Feb. 18. The Leo tie of Nations To the Editor: i do not like vour attitude toward the League of Nations. I have wanted!'11 Mrs- Clifford Collier, to write you about this for some time I mend8 wm bt Interested In know arui now since vour recent attack in n lhat RalPn "ntly received regard to the Its 11 an-African matter I cannot refrain. Of course the league I has not functioned one hundred per; cent or any where near It. Nor did any one expect that It would. Never theless It Is a matter of authentic history that It has functioned ef fectively In the settlement of many minor disputes any one of which might have led to serious results. Any one doubting this can obtain at any public library the document to prove It. And the very fact that we have a League of Nations it all Is a great thing. Let us not magnify its fail ures but consider Its victories and thus help sll peoples to become pesce minded. Incidentally let us Ameri cans snap out of our tight shell of Intense Nationalism and become world minded and take our rightful place In the league. We belong to the family of nations whether we desire to do so or not. Why not as sume our share of the responsibility? A. W. SHEPHERD. Route 4. Medford Feb. 18. 193ft, WM ft AAV ids.
