Stars in Craterian's New Hit
After having made two smash hits

Director Frank Capra la again brought

The story is a simple one, but, with

REVIEW
By Dirk ApplfRate
A thrilling mystery story, "The
White Cockatoo." with Ricardo Cor
tez and Jean Mulr. with color, sus
pense and a perfect setting, played
in conjunction with the vaudeville
at the Craterlan theater last night.
Set in a larpe hotel on the coast of
France, the play moves swiftly to Its
final denoument with very few flaws.'
The love interest centers In Jean
Mulr, as a young American girl who
Is about to Inherit a million dollars,
and Ricardo Cortez, a young Ameri
can who spends most of the picture
preventing people of various descrip
tions from swindling her out of It.
The mystery Interest centers in the
attempts on Mlsa Mulr's life, and the
murders of two of the hotel employ
es, and the clever solving of the mur
ders by Cortez.
Most mystery plays content them
selves with a few weird sound ef
fects. - and the use of disembodied
hands with long finger-nails, clutch
lng from behind curtains at the
beautiful damsel's throat, and flash
es of some guy In a black cape slink
ing off through the underbrush.

this one, however, and the fans who
enjoy a well txirnrri mystery purred
contentedly at this one.
Outstanding In the vaudeville was
a bicycle riding act that would be a
credit to blg-tlme circuita. The broad
seasoning of silly remarks which ac
companied it was no doubt thrown
In to appease the rustic appetites of
we Medford yokels, but otherwise it
was darn good. If I could ride a bi
