Roaeburg will be the next stepping stone, when the locals play in mat city on Saturday night. A 17-18 win Is already credited to Medford over the Roaeburg team In a game played here several weeks ago. A two game series will be played with Klamath Falls on the week-end following the Grants Paaa-Roseburg games. On Friday night, the Pell cans will play here and on Saturday night. Two games with Ashland and an opon date will complete the schedule for the Medford High echool, with possibility of a tournament to fol low. GIRLS' CLUB QUINTET IMS JACKSONVILLE TO TUNE OF 40 TO 22 Playing before s falr-slaed crowd Tuesday evening the Cllrls' Commu nity club basketball team defeated Jacksonville, 40 to 93, at Jackson ville. Using a fast overhead passing attack to work the ball under the basket for easy "loop" shots, the Medford girls, for the first tlmo this season, played together as a unit. Taxing the lead from the very atart, Medford outclassed and out guessed Ita opponents during the first half. With the- score 30 to 10, Med ford sent In reserve playera, every girl being given a chance to play. Mon day night the Prospect town team took the Texaco All-Stara of Medford Into camp to the tune of 36 to 31. It waa a hard fought game from start to finish. Texaco took the lead at the start with two points; Prospect then tied It and Texaco shot a foul for one point. The number of northern California cattle to be driven In waa placed at 4500. Commlssloner Ralph O. Billings said terms had been signed and the rates approved. The Pilot Rook grazing district was recently formed, and embraces the territory between the western bound ary of Klamath county and the Pa cific highway, and from the old Dead Indian road to the California state line. Between 6000 and 6000 head of cattle normally use the range an nually. Under the new terms, the northern California cattlemen are permitted to range the same number of cattle as in former years. Borne of the north ern California cattlemen, from the Hilt, Hornbrook and Montague dis tricts have been using the range from 80 to 50 years. Under the plan, according to Henry O. Endera of Ashland, the road will extend from the Pacific highway, eliminating a bridge, and avoiding a circuitous route, made necessary by the change In the Pacific highway. Residents of the Valley View dis trict recently reached an agreement on the route. " and approval by the county court Is sought. The new route eliminates a pro posed bridge across Bear creek, and Its maintenance cost ot about 9150 per year. 0. CALLED BY DEATH Victor D. Deasery, resident of M- 'j ford for the paat year, on Suasta ave nue, passed away at that place Tu day afternoon, after a very short ill ness. He was born in Kansas, Octo ber 10, 1872, and waa 62 years of ae. Mr. Dessery was employed at Dia mond lake seven years before coming to Medford. He Is survived by his widow, Mrs. Catherine Dessery of Medford; three daughters, Mrs. Helen Qllmore. North Bend. Ore.. UlHan, Seattle, and Mrs. Anna Locke. Tacoma.
