(UP) Kim. a mournful-eyed cocker spaniel, Is set ting the lead In dog faahlona. He veara a pack saddle, equipped with lights similar to those on a motor cycle. Malcolm Balrd, Kim's master, ex plains: v "The lights glv Kim th greatest possible freedom at night with some degree of safety In orosstng streets. You can't expect motorists to see such a small dog crossing a street In the dark but the light eliminates tbat problem. "In addition. If Kim plays hide and seek at night and keeps me out when I want to go to sleep, I can find him easily through the light. "I thought of the idea sometime last winter when on a particularly cold night, Kim decided to wander off a bit. I didn't want to whistle for him and disturb the neighbors and I didn't want to leave him out all night In the cold. He returned several hours later but I decided never to let that happen again." "They have learned to work and to sacrifice together, and this experience has cemented their affection and loyalty for each other." Couples married In normal or boom times, he says, found the de pression a test and many failed. "Mutual misery held them to gether." he says, a "spirit of toler ance and fair play" was extant with the result that divorce courts Idled along. E OF I GET K3,57J MIXES CITY. Mont.
