Nude American Dancer
Shocks French Police
By JOHN LLOYD
Associated Press Foreign Staff
PARIS, Jan. 11. (AP) The more
or less blase police of Paris blinked
their eyes tn horror when Mlsa Joaa
Warner of Narbcrth, Pa., the only
American nude dancer In Paris, put
on her act In a cheap restaurant, and
ordered her scratched off the bill.
The 22-year-old platinum blonde,
who says her performance is so mod
eft she was allowed to dance In Chi
cago and Milwaukee, now must con
flue her appearance In the nude to
music halls and theaters. The police
official who complained said restau
rant, where whole- families go to
dine, are no place for such an act
as he aaw Joan give.
In rebuttal, Joan said that after
she shed her attire the cartwheel
off the floor so rapidly that no hu
man eye I quick enough to get a
good view of her body.
The official happened to be In the
restaurant when Joan was perform
ing her tlav act, which she says t
one of her best.
The scene 1 a slave market from
which he escaped via the cartwheel
route. The act winds up In a breath
taking moment when she shakes off
her clothes, remains with nothing on
except a chain, and then drops the
chain.
It was then that the police official
dropped his eyes.
