Peterson, pastor of the Phoenix Presbyterian church, has been ganted a 3-montos leave of absence during which time he will act as stated supply of the First Presbyterian church of Medford. Rev. E. Mr. Pillsbury, who has been with the telephone company continuously for 36 years, entered tha telephone business In 1898 In the legal department and became presi dent In 1925. He has been an out standing figure in the telephbne in dustry on the Pacific coast and in his many years of service has devoted himself to the highest Ideals of serv ice both to the people In the bust ness and to the general public. N. R. Powley. operating vice presi dent, succeeds Pillsbury as president, and Vice President C. G. Fleager, Powley's assistant for the past six years, waa elected vice president In charge or operations. Powley, assumes the presidency of one of the largest of the Bell System operating units at the age of 49. , Graduating from, Amherst college In 1908, he entered the telephone busi ness as a clerk with the American Telephone and Telegraph company Ih Boston In July of that year. In 1911 Powley was employed by The Paclfld Telephone and Telegraph company at San Francisco and, advancing In the company step by step, In 1928 he became vice president In charge of operations of The Pacific Telephone and Telegraph company and Its as sociated companies. . , . Fleager, who succeeds Powley, haa been In the telephone business for 35 years and also rose from the ranks, atartlng as a clerk In 1899 in Chicago and coming to the coast in 1902 In telephone construction work at Seattle. After years of experience In telephone construction and main tenance work, ha became the com pany's chief engineer for Northern California1 and Nevada In 1925 and assistant to the operating vice presi dent In 1028, a position which he haa held until his present advance ment. i. EDWARDS TO RESIDE AT SELMA After six yean of devoted employ ment for the Mall Tribune, Jrva Fewell Edwards resigned her position with the newspaper and left Friday for Selma, Ore., to be with her hus band. First Lieutenant Grant H. Ed wards, who Is stationed at Camp er by. CCC. Mrs. Edwards was employed' by the Tribune upon her graduation from Medford high school as reporter, aud since May. 1934, as society edl'.or. She accepted this position upon the resignation of Eva Nealon Hampton. Known to many In Medford and vicinity, she was well liked every where and an energetic and capable member of the Tribune staff. She waa correspondent from Medford for the Oregon .lournal. lira Fewell was married to Lieu tenant Edwards on September 18, 1934. Lieutenant Edwards waa trans ferred to Camp Kerby recently from Camp Spring Plat, near Fort Jones.
