Codding and Deputy Oeorge W Neilaon. Defendante In 93 felony caaea were sentenced to a total of 31 yeara and eight month In atata prison. The most popular form of crime was grand larceny, with 30 chargea ol thla nature. Thieving showed a auh- atantlal decline over both 1033 and 1933. There were nine casea of bur glary not In a dwelling. Cherk forg. ery also slumped with only nine ob taining money under falsa pretenses charges being filed. Fifteen auspena ed sentences and two paroles were granted defendante In felony cases. Pour were freed to return to their former out-of-state place of real dence. There were two criminal syn dlcallsm cases. Five Suicides There were five aulcldes, and four accidental deatha In the county the past year. There were no hunting fatalities, and guns were not respon slble for accidental deaths. Fifteen Inquests were conducted. Ten non-aupport caaea were filed Five are still pending. Two were re leased to go to work, one defendant aentenced to six months ' In the county Jail, one freed upon the pleas of his wife, and one ordered to pro Tide for his family. Fine amounting to 1010 were collected in 39 gama case filed. Thirteen of this total were for hunt ing and fishing without a license. Traffic cases for the year totaled 438. There were 30 arresta for drunk en driving, 48 for reckless driving, and 38 for apeedlng. There were 13 chargea for driving with more than four In the front aeat of an auto. There were 99 arrests for failure to have proper license plates. Bop.tences for auto law vlolatlona totaled three years, four months, and 91 days, with 2B0 ftnea amounting to 97,116.90 aa-ses-ied. 4t Liquor Cam Liquor law violation cases number ed 43, with five charges of operating a still, and alx for possession ol mesh. Fifteen sentences amounting to three years, four months and 30 days were Imposed. Liquor fines amounted to 9714.60. There were 63 caaea Involving Juve niles, and 30 paroles were granted. Twelva were committed to state In stitution, flva returned to their homes in California, and one released to get married. Misdemeanor cases In the county totaled 193. The leading offenses were petty larceny numbering 47, assault and battery, 31; disorderly conduct, 36, and vagranoy, 33. There waa one arrest for swearing In public. Sixty one defendante were aentenced to a total of four years, and one month. Thirty-nine caaea are still pending. Unlike the past three yeara there was no epidemic of pilfering of summer homes and charges of ateallng gaso line and tlrea. No one waa thua ac oused. In the Medford Justice court, 689 easea were filed; 97 In the Ashland Justice court, 11 In the Jacksonville Justice court and 97 In the Gold Hill court. Divorce cases In Jackson county for laat year totaled 116, search war ranta numbered 36, and the district attorney's office wrote 64 opinions for county officials. ASHLAND, Jan. 3. (Spl.)
