Music and readlnga fitting to the

able meeting of the Degree of Honor
iociety attended by a large number
Thursday In the women' club rooma
of the city hall.
Presented by the Juvenile Degree of
tfonor club members, the program
was begun by singing Christmas
carols, with Louis Parker accompany
ing at the piano. Old Santa was
present at the Christmas tree, and
candy, nut and gifts were distribut
ed to everyone. Many of the members
enjoyed dancing after the program.
The numbers were "Christmas
Hurrah". Maurice Campbell: "Christ
mas Cheer," Marjorle Ooddard; a
harmonica solo. Merle Dietrich:

The service cap waa presented to
Ethel Blgler, and Jimmy Schultz was
presented with earned honors, both
presentations being made by the ju
venile club director, Ida M. Wilson.
The next regular meeting of the
Degree ol Honor is to be held at the
club rooms January 3. to Install the
officers for 1935. The Juvenile Degree
of Honor will hold Its next meeting
January S, and large attendances are
urged at both meetings. The Juvenile
club will also install Its new officers.

Have Holiday Guests.
Mr. and Mrs. John G. Gore of Eu
gene are guest of their son-in-law
and daughter, Mr.' and Mrs. Ray
Lenox of 48 Rose avenue. Friends of
Mr. Gore will be glad to learn he la
convalescing from a recent opera
tion. Mrs. Edith Reader and daughter.
Sarah Leigh of San Francisco are
also guests over the holidays at the
Lenox home. Mrs. Reader Is a sister
of Mrs. Lenox.

Royal Neighbors with their fami
lies and invited friends, numbering
about 100, met Thursday evening at
the K. of P. hall wneio the follow
ing splendid program was enjoyed
while the kiddles were waiting for
Santa to appear.

Miss La Murle Beck, who is home
from Mills for the holidays, gave

Following luncheon a beautiful

Albert. She, reed bible prophecies

vice. After the business meeting, which
waa presided over by Mrs. Louis
Brown, a Christmas play wa given.

Have Xmas Party
The Junior Musicians met for their
regular meeting- and Chrlstmaa party
at the atudlo of their teacher, Mrs.
Effle Yeoman; Thursday evening.
Olfts were exchanged among the
membera and an Interesting program
to which each one contributed waa
enjoyed. '
Musical games -and contests were
held and all eang carols for their
guests. Katherlne Gentner played
"Humoresque," !by Dvorak, and the
story of "Funeral March by the Ma
rionettes" was read and then Inter
preted at two planoa by Mrs. Yeo
man and Mrs. aims.
Heiresnmente 01 popcorn nans were
served.

Hazel Anderson.
All those present received appro
priate verses, taken from the Chrlst
maa tree prepared by the hostess and

Holds Reunion On
Century Birthday

Mra. Angelina Carter of Welle, nor
thern Benton county, who celebrated
her hundredth birthday on Decem
ber 18, will be honored today at a
family reunion to be held in ner
home. Mrs. Carter expect nearly all
of her lineal descendant,, of whom
there are . Including i children.
37 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren.
S great-great-grandchildren and
6 great-great-great-grandchildren, six
generations In all. .
Mra. Carter refuses to accept am
with her housework and Uvea alone,
preparing her own meala and even
splitting the wood If none of her
relatlvea are about.
She was born December 18, 1634.
in Missouri, the daughter of Rev.
and Mrs. Leander Belleu.
Coming with her parents to ore-
ton In 1843 Angelina was marrieo
to Tolbert Carter near Dallas In 1850.
Mr. Carter died In 1899. The couple
moved to the Wells community In
1853 and Mra. Carter hu resided on
the same farm ever alnce.
Mrs. Carter Is an aunt of Mrs.
0. C. Heard, who Uvea on tne nign
way south of Medford.

The Women's Missionary aoclety or
the Preabyterlan church met at the
home of Mra. Frank Albert Tuesday
afternoon with Mra. Albert, president,
presiding. "Japanese Women Speak"
will be the foreign study book to be

Fidelity circle of the First M. E.
church at her home on the old North
Pacific highway Tuesday afternoon. A
dessert luncheon was served at 1 :30.

Teachers of the Washington school
were in charge of an Interesting
program Friday evening at the school.
in the annual Christmas' party given
by the P.-T. A. Each room presented
a number in the entertainment.
The children and teachers filled
25 baskets to be distributed on i
Christmas to families In the rural 1
districts, and those In charge ex
pressed their appreciation for the
generous contributions. Santa Claua
was present at the Christmas tree,
giving a treat to each child. A large
attendance enjoyed the program.
Fifty Attend Meet
of Loyal Women's Class
The Loyal Women's class of the
First Christian church assembled in
the recreational hall of the church
December IS.
A covered dish luncheon was served
at noon to about fifty membera and
friends. Following a short business
session waa held, with election of of
ficers for 193S. A fine program ol
songs, readings, dialogues and recita
tions was rendered and enjoyed by all
present.

Supper, Xmas Party
The Gleaner class of the First Bap-
tlst church held a Christinas party!
Thursday, beginning with a covered
dish and chicken pie supper which
was very much enjoyed. The tables
were prettily decorated with tiny
Christmas trees and other Christmas
greens, and a large electric-lighted
tree stood on the platform.
After the supper. Myron Eaton
sang a aolo. followed by two num
bers 'by the ladles quartet. While
the tables were bring cleared the
choir practiced upstairs, and the rest
of the evening wan spent playing
games directed by Mrs. Hogue.

cal society. Dr. G. W. Gregg of Ash
land read the paper of the evening

Dr. McFarland. member of the staff
of the University of California hos
pital in San Francisco, was a guest
speaker, taking for his topic, ''the
common cold."
