LE ORDEREDJY HUEY State Headed for Govern ment by Blackmail and Extortion Declares Sen ator Foe of the Kingfish BATON ROUGE, I., Dec. (AP) Louisiana 1 designed soon to un dergo a metamorphosis as the result of Huey Long's dictatorship, admin istration proponent and opponents agreed today. There waa a difference of opinion. however, concerning Its projected new form. Said Senator O. D. Davis of La Salle parish : "Before rery long, with the legis lature and this Huey Long, Louisiana la going to show the world we're building up. We're going to come from the frog pond to the south to the flower garden of the world. Foe Speaks Out Said Senator George W. Lester, stern foe of the Kingfish: "If the present railroading of Long continues we are headed for a com plete government by blackmail and extortion, placed In the handa of a modern Nero." Meantime, tut senate sped Long's toward final enactment by sending them to the finance committee, where Long promised he would strike from the parish school bill a provision gtv- lng his dictatorship public school teacher patronage. This "Joker" clause waa revealed In the bill after printed copies had been laid on the desks and waa the object of an attack yes terday by Representative Lester. Final Passage Tomorrow With the whole proceeding aa per functory aa the fixing of a notary's seal, the senate finance committee had. orders to meet at 10 a. m. (C. 8. T.) and approve the bills. There was every prospect that the measures would be stamped "approved" quickly and returned to the senate for final passage tomorrow. With house concurrence In senate amendments a certainty, that will be all the legislature will have to do to enable Long to hang a few more op. position scalps to his belt, control many more Jobs, and further punish hla political enemies. The bills were brought into the senate last night from the house, which passed them so fast that an anti-Long representative declared the voting machine ought to be water cooled. Calls Solons Stooges Lester, Incensed, took the floor In a one-man oratorical display and called his fellow lawmakers "putty faced Stoogea for bowing to the whims and fancies of the dictator on practically every legislative demand he makes." Lester, of New England extraction and a Loulslanan by adoption, Is or dinarily one of the quietest members But, In contrast with his usual re tiring nature, he burst forth In wrath In hla lone attack on the "Kingfish' with one of the most bitter philippics ever delivered In the Louisiana legis lature. Hl n&rlsh. Went Feliciana, has been a hornet's nest of the Long opposl tlon where a year ago an enraged citizenry burned the ballots In Huey Long's congressional "private elec tion and Lester has tenaciously fought Long ever since he took his seat two years ago.
