Botkln, familiarly called "Dad dy Botlcln" parsed away Thursday from heart trouble of long atandlng. but waa only 1)1 this time for about three days. He was 78 year old and had resided In Rogue River Tor the pai 13 yeara. before moving here he was employed as a conductor on the Santa Fe railroad. He la survived by hlr widow norence and two daughters Mrs. Claudia Muflc of St. Louis, Mo. Mrs. Ulan Shepherd of this city and one son Walter Botkln of Salisbury. Mo. Funeral services were held at the Community hall Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Dengler left Monday on the Shasta for a trip which will take them Into the south ern part of California, the first stop to be San Francisco where they will visit Mr. Dengler'a slater. A visit to Mr. and Mrs. Theo. Nelmuth at San Joae Is part of their plan, then on to Loa Angeles to visit another sister. They will be gone a month or more. Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Sams made a trip to Kewberg, Ore., with their son Lyle recently. On their return they were accompanied by Mrs. Lyle Sam and children who had visited for two weeks with Mrs. Sam's parents, the Rev. W. Lee Oray and wife. They also apent one day In Portland. Dr. C. J. Moser. of O rants Pass made a professional visit to Rogue River one day this week. Mrs. Chas. Sleeving ton Is reported ill with pleurisy. Deo. 7 several members of Live Oak grange motored to Central Point to visit the grange and enjoyed seeing the third and fourth degrees given to 20 candidate of which five were from Ihere. Those who attended were: Otto . Fuhrman, John Fleming. Chas. Roe. Mr. and Mrs. Perry Walt, Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Cutter, Mr. snd Mrs. F. E. Klers I cey, Lawrence Jones, Mr. and Mr. I Walter Combs, Mrs. Myrtle Putnam I and Mrs. Myrtle Whipple. ! The Ladles of the Christian church gave a dinner Dec. 7. which waa well attended and reported a success. The Ladles' Aid of the Presbyterian church met Friday bit moon at the home of Mr. Elizabeth Fowler. Mrs. Dulcle Gnlbreath and son Bruce left Monday for their home at John Day having apent several weeks visiting her father and motrer, Mr. and Mre. Martin Burkhart anc other relatives. Mrs. Cha. Warren went to Ashland last Thursday for a stay of a few weeks hoping the change will Improve her health a ahe has been ill for month. Hot lunches at the school were started Monday. Mrs. O. Piatt has supervision of this work, Mr. Myrtle Whipple la the cook. Lunch Is served to about 170 each day. Mrs. Roy Hoi lister was a visitor at the Wagner Creek school Monday and entertained the children with numer ous drawing. She Is a real artist with colored chalk on white paper. The executive committees of the Ladles' Aid and Clvlo club met at Mrs. Elizabeth' Fowler's Monday after noon to formulate plana for a skating rink to be opened at the community hsll for the young people. A small fee will be charged to take care of the expense. It Is hoped It will be ready In the near future. Such a place Is needed here as there la no place of amusement for the young people. The Jackson County Recreation club furnished- the pro gram. 4-H clubs have been organized at the Lone pine school In clothing, cooking, and camp cookery. The Christmas program Is planned for Friday evening, December 91 at the school house. A new home has been constructed by A. Clarke, a short distance east of pierces' greenhouse. In a doubleheader basketball game with the Howard school the girls won 19-0 and the boys tied up at 8-all.
