keys wera held over by Portland
wholesalers and that some retailers

It appeared that many consumers
would not purchase at prices over 35
cents a pound retail.
The speculators, of course, were the
fear dee t hit, for some of them bad
rushed Into the country to outbid all
competitors for supplies. Some shov
ed a loss of three to four cent a
pound on tons of blrda.
The buying of turkeys for the
Christmas rade Is already underway,
but general operations will not begin

brought a moderately Improved tone
to the stock market today after prices
had moved Irregularly most of the
session. Trading Teas comparatively
quiet, however, many brokerage cus
tomers extending their Thanksgiving
holiday over the week-end. The close

Med ford football fans who returned
this morning from Portland, where
MM ford and Washington high schools
played a 8-to-fl tie Thanksgiving day
at Multnomah stadium, said the
Med ford rooting section was one of
the largest ever to follow the Tigers
on a title-seeking Invasion of Portland.
Among boosters of the red and
black were W. A. Gates, W. 15. Bolger,
B. O. ("Jerry') Jerome, J. Verne
Shangle. W. F. ("Toggery Bill")
Isaacs, Harry Hlnman and Dr. B. R.
Elliott, as well as many other bust
nesa men, their wires, and large
delegation of high school students.
Although the school band was un
able to lend Its color and support to
the team this year, the Medford root
ing section was said to have com
pared favorably with the group of
Colonial followers.
The sendoff given the team Wed
nesday morning at the depot saw
several hundred etvdents from both
senior and Junior high schools, with
many townspeople, present.

Formal notice of appeal to the
state supreme court, from his convic
tion and sentence of 90 days In the
county jail, for driving an auto while
Intoxicated, has been filed by At
torney T. J. Enrlght. A writ of prob
able cause was Issued Wednesday by
Circuit Judge H. D. Norton. The writ
Is mandatory upon the court, and
automatically stays committment
pending an appeal decision. Bonds In
the sum of $500 with J. B. Thomas
of Ashland, as surety, were filed, by
