NOVEMBER 30, 1931.- SPECIAL SERVICES THANKSGIVING DAY SCIENTIST CHURCH Th Obrtstton 0ctentlta of MM ford held special Thanksgiving ser vices Thursday morning at 11 o'clock, in their church edifice on N. Oak dale avenue. The eervlc, which was well attended, constated of readings from the Bible and correlative pas atea from the Christian Science teat book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scripture," by Mary Butter Eddy. The Oolden Text was taken from n Cor. (9:15). "Thank be unto Ood for bis unspeakable gift." and among the citations was another from the Bible, "Thy way, O God. is in the sanctuary: who la so great a Ood a our Ood?" (Pa. 77:13; and ttie n&s.es from Science and Health Included the following: "To those leaning on the sustaining Infinite, today Is big with bleaslnfn." . . . "Bp'lrlt blesses man, but man cannot "Ml whence it cometh. By It the nick are healed, the sorrowing are comforted, and the sinning are re formed. These are the effect of one universal Ood, the Invisible good dwelling In eternal Science." (pp. vll. 78). Inspiring hymns were sun from the new Christian Science hymnal, and the soloist, Mrs. Philip Sper ling sang. The latter part of the sour was devoted to a unique feature which Is characteristic of the Wednesday evening meetings of the Christian Scientists. At the service on Thurs day, one after another, members of the audience arose and expressed gratitude for blessings received from the. application of Christian Science to some personal problem. Some aald they had been healed of disease and various other more or less serious physical disorders, some had over come bad habits, while alt .seemed to have had something to be thank ful for In the line of spiritual growth. - PORTLAND, Hot, 30.
