Moore of 138 South Grape street underwent a major operation today at the Com munity hospital. Eckles In Medford George E. Eckles, manager of the U. S. Fidelity and Guaranty, with offices In Portland, was a local business visitor on Wed nesday. At South Fork Norman C. Whit, assistant supervisor of Rogue River national forest. Is at South Fork of the Rogue CCC camp today on bus'aj ness. To Klamath Falls Mr. and Mrs. Charles Ege left today for Klamath Falls and expect to return to Medford the end of the week. Scott Expected TJ. B. Scott of this city was expected to return today by train from Los Angeles, where, he has been visiting for the past thrse weeks with friends. Mr. Scott for merly lived In Los Angeles. Rainfall Reported The federal weather bureau here today reported 22 of an Inch of rainfall between 6 p. m. Wednesday and 3 a. m. to day. Only a trace was recorded in the preceding 12 hours, their meas urements show. Shipping Turkeys M. M. Frank of Sacramento and W. J. Allen returned from Portland on the Orc gonlan this morning, having been visiting for the past two weeks in that city. Leave for East Frank Zegar and Frank Piekar&ki, both of Camp Se bastian, CCC, left this city last even ing by train for their homes in Wu kegan and Chicago, 111., respectively. Here from Portland John McVlcker of Portland, representative of the Standard Oil Co., arrived in the Ore gonian this morning to spend two days here attending to business. Mrs. Cantrall Home Mrs. S. L. Cantrall, who underwent an. opera tion at the Community hospital re cently, is now at her home, 600 South Newtown street, where she is report ed making a satisfactory recovery. Expected to Arrive Judge C. M. Thomas of Salem, public utilities commissioner, and C. R. Lester of Salem, director of engineers for the Public Utilities commission, were ex pected to arrive in Medford today by train to spend several days here on business. Judge Thomas waa formerly of this city. Attend Officers' Meet Captain Carl T. Tengwald and First Lieutenant W. H. McBee of Co. A, 186th Infantry, attended a meeting last Saturday night of all officers of the regiment, held in Portland. Capt. Tengwald re turned with the word that the annual encampment next year will probably be held at Camp Lewis, Wash., in stead of at Camp Clatsop. Attending Conference Karl Ja nouch, supervisor of Rogue River na tional forest, left today to attend a conference of officials from Umpqua, Siskiyou and Rogue River national forests, being held today at Oregon Caves forest camp. The purpose of the conference is to discuss recrea tional developments. Have Accident George E. Beltz, 32. of 1115 Niantlc street, and J. H. Orr. who was driving a car with an Ore gon license, figured in a minor auto accident at p. m. yesterday, accord ing to city police records. The acci dent occurred on the Pacific highway north of Ashland, when Beltz was forced to drive off the highway by the Orr auto, police reports stale. Fishermen Lost In Typhoon Path MANILA. P. Numerous suggestions for further Luc the work of the Orange, among them the extension of cooperatives to aeir fields, were offered today by agricul tural leaders at a lecturers' confer ence held in connection with the National Grange convention. Ervin C. King, master of the Wash ington State Orange, urged before the lecturers conference that greater je be made of the cooperative plan. He pointed out that in his state. 7.000. 000 gallons of gasoline ware sold last year through 43 cooperative stations and that the Orange is operating a powder manuiaeturing company. King laid down 12 "commandments" for the successful operation of cs operatlves, among them: Sell at competitive prices only. Do not cut prices. Stock only staple goods required oy members. Select competent managers. Pay managera reasonable salary. Give the business your hearty co operation. Cooperate with other recognized co operative organizations. Louis J. Taber, national master, outlined various activities through which officers of the Grange might further its work and said: "Above all, keep the Orange ideils high."
