In order to aaur adequate financial support until federal requirements for air mall contract are met, sub sidizing contracts have been slfrned by business firms and Individuals. At the present time mall can be carried on non-government planes, but It Is known as atr express. For a stipulated monthly payment, firms which have signed these contracts are allowed one round trip passage per month, plus an air expross serv ice which connects with main Hue mall planes. A reduction of from 20 to SO hours In the delivery and re ceipt of eastern mall and communi cations will be accomplished by this service. Applications for the establishment of a connecting air mall line from Klamath. Falls to either Boise or Reno are under wny. Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Auxiliary, Crater Lake post No. 1833, was held Nov. S at the Medford Armory. Past Commander McConnel of Del Rogue pott. Grants Paes, Ore., acted aa Installing officer. Lare delegation of Del Rogue poat and their auxiliary drove down for the affair. Past President Lillian Flynn, Holly wood post, Alameda, Cal., acted as Installing officer for the auxiliary. Commander Frank Pearce of the Spanish American veterans and Mrs. Ruth McCalllster of the auxiliary, Carold J. Parker of the Disabled Vet erans and Miss Ora Oox of tho Daughters of Union Veterans of Med ford, were present. A ls.rgo crowd at tended the Installation services, which were followed by refreshments and a dance. CENTRAL PT. GRANGE IS The Central Point grange Is spon soring ft dinner and dance tonight to be held In the grange hall, with dinner to be served from 8 to 8 o'clock, after which those who attend are Invited to stay as guests of the grange for free dancing. The dinner will be served In coun try style, and will be given at a nom inal fee. The charge of the dance alone, for those who wish to go later, will also be nominal. Scott retired from the army two years ago and has been a tailor and restaurateur In Portland and other Paclfto northwest cities. He and Miss Hurtlenne returned recently from an eastern automobile trip for the expressed purpose of en gaging In prospecting In southern Oregon, officers said. Scott and Margaret Hurtlenne In custody at Roseburg, Oregon, the list of those held In con nection with the kidnaping of Charl es p. Urschel from his home here la July 1933, had been Increased to 17. The arrest of Scott was reported by federal agents to have resulted In the recovery of $1,360 of the $200, 000 ransom paid, but 9120,000 re mains unrecovered. Federal investigators have Indicat ed that a good part of this was the 980,000 allegedly concealed by Albert Bates, now serving a life term In prison. Scott Is a brother-in-law of Olara Feldman. who Is Bates' sister. Trial In Oklahoma City United States Attorney W. O. Lew Is said Scott would be brougTlt here for trial and the woman held as a material witness. E. E, Klrkpatrlck, Tulsa, who de livered the ransom, said he was of the opinion that the arrests on the west coast might expose the "mys terious blonde" who has figured be hind the scenes in the cast. Justice agents at Oklahoma City, however, sold they did not believe Mrs. Hurtlenne was the blonde re ferred to by Klrkpatrlck, and so far as they knew she nevei had been di rectly associated with Bates.'
