ASHLAND, Oct. 80 '(Spl,) Despite rumors to the contrary, the most oolorful Rama on the football srhed uto of the .Southern Oregon Normal erhool will be played 1n Ashland on Friday, November 2, at 3 o'clock. Monmouth Normal will be the op position, and plenty of aparka fly when these two teams clash. Kfon mouth Is known as a team with i bag-full of tricks, executed by I brilliant hackfleld. An excellent aerUi attack, Interspersed with many razzle-dazzle play, should provide southern Oregon football fans with an Interesting grid menu. Regardless of season records, the two normal school outfits go at hammer-and-tongs, Monmouth won two years ago In Ashland, but the Sons retaliated last year when the game was played In Portland. The contest made such a hit with Port land fans that the two schools-were offered generous financial backing If they would play there again this season. Ashland business men, how ever, decided they wanted to see the tilt and wop the Issue by an under writing agreement. Further co-operation on the part of local merchants Is In the offing with the announcement today that many stores are In favor of closing doors during the hours of the game on Friday. Further announcements will be made In regard to this move later. 4 to mmsL Fans are awaiting next Thursday night's wrestling card at the armory with great expectations of seeing an exhibition of the wrestling game as Jt should be presented, between two experienced, but clean mat artists such as Bonny Mulr, Australian champion, and Don Wagner, former Oregon State grid star. Their bout, the main event of another two-ply performance, should meet with even more approval than the match last week between Sad Sam Let hers and the Australian. Wagner, because of an Injury sus tained here laat spring tn a match with Ous Sonnenberg, has been' " forced to stay out of the ring until a fow weeks ago. when he made his return in Portland. FOR ANCIENT FOES IILTIOTONED Due to the final decision of foot ball officials to hold the Southern Orpfton Normal-Monmouth football game at the Ashland hlirh school field Friday afternoon, the game be tween Medford and Ashland Junior high schools, previously scheduled for the same time and place has been poslponed, Coach nay Henderson of the Junior high school stated the gnme may be played early next week. The, Bulldogs may arrange a game with a freshman team from Klamath FaJls Union hih school. Coach Hen derson stated, to he played Novem ber 10. (By Harold Grove) With the hardest games of the sea son now history, the championship' bound Medford Tigers are nursing sore muscles and Injuries In prepara tion for the Invasion of the Ashland Grizzlies here Saturday afternoon nt 2 o'clock. Ashland high la In a better position this year to question the strength of Medford high than for the past three years. Although they were defeated by Klamath Falls, 10 to 0, Klamath In turn defeated Grants Pass by a narrow margin of 13 to 6. Ashland walloped Grants Pass, 25 to 0, making them appear a stronger team than Klamath Falls to date, although they were defeated by the Pelicans. But Medford turned on the heat and warped Klamath, 20 to 0, giving Med ford the advantage In statistics. According to a report of the game between Ashland nd the Pass, Ash land opened with a running attack against the Cavemen which It had failed to uncover so far this season. Rivalry will be at peak next Satur day when these two teams meet. The rivalry between Ashland and Medford surpasses any between Medford ami any other team. Coach Don Faber of Ashland high school has not won a football contest from Medford high school and he believes this will be the week that he Is going to take the Tigers Into camp. Blondle Lewis, one of Med ford ' most valuable players, will be out of the lineup for the rest of the season with an Injured leg sustained In the Klamath Falls game last Saturdny. The doctor put his leg In a cast. Bob Smith, who has been an alternate backfield man, will probably take his place. Coach Burgher declared that, the rest of his players were In excel lent condition.
