October 23, and continuing through Friday, October 30. Mualcal selec tions by some of the most talented artists of the city, will be given at the dinner, and throughout the convention. On Wednesday afternoon. Mr. Jolley will give her annual address, and there will be an address by 1 Mrs. W. 8. Nicholson, state presl i aent of the Federation of Women's (clubs. That evening, the session will i be especially for the young people, i with Mlas Byrnes aa guest speaker. ' Music will be by the Methodist choir. Addresses will be given Thursday evening by Miss Maude Aldrtch, nationally known for her work in connection with motion ptcturea. and by Reverend Fred M. Weatherford. pastor of the Medford Nazarene church. . The convention closes Friday aft ernoon, the delegates being enter tained with a sight-seeing trip plan ned by the Chamber of Commerce. It is estimated that well over one hundred delegates will attend, the convention, arriving Monday eve ning and Tuesday morning. The state officers will be enter tained at the Holland hotel. Break : fast Is being served at the church I for delegates. All sessions of the I convention are open and interested 1 persons are Invited to attend. Job's Daughters Receive Charter At a banquet attended by nearly , 200 young ladles, the local Job's Daughters received their charter Mon day evening, with the group to bo known as Bethel No. 14. Sixty-two ! namea appeared on the charter, wht :h . waa presented by Mrs. A. J. Young of : Roseburg, grand guard of Oregon. From Grants Pass, Klamath Falls and Roseburg. groups of girls were In attendance at the banquet and evening program. The majority de gree was conferred upon Miss Arvllla Burns by a group from the Roseburg chapter. , i Mrs. Charles Gilbert waa made grand senior custodian, by the grand I guardian, Mrs. Victoria Erlckson of Portland, who was a guest. Mr. Joat of Portland, aaoclate grand guardian, attended the sessions, also. - Mtss Eve ret ta Gillespie, who thi summer was elected supreme quean of the world, was presented a gift by the Bethel, and a apeclal song wa sung for her. Miss Patricia Young was master of ceremonies and Mt&s Betty Paske was chairman of the program and enter tainment. The program Included a reading by Miss Elaine Brophy, a dance by Frank! Rinabarger and a Japanese chorus by several local girls. Mrs. Erlckson. grand guardian, ex pressed her pleasure at being present here, saying It was the largest Job's Daughters affair she had ever, attended. Orange Ladies Honor .Mrs. Pierre Thursday evening a lovely party was held at the home of Mrs. Vlnce Rlts lnger of Central Point by the lady officials and close friends of Mrs. Hlldcgarde Lange Pierce, honoring her. Mrs. Pierce has served as secre tary of the Central Point Grange for the past three years. The living-room was decorated to resemble fairyland, and a clever pro gram, appropriate for the occasion, was carried, out while the guests embroidered. The honor guest was presented many lovely gifts, end refreshments were served by the hostess. She was assisted by the following ladies: Mrs. Pearl Bonney, Mrs. John Blackford . Mrs. O. Mis Myrtle Burns and Francis Krause of Applegate were united In marriage at Medford, Wednesday, October 10, Rev. W. R. Balrd performing the ceremony. The groom's mother, Mrs. A. N. Krause of A pp legate, and his aunt. Miss Enid Funk of Medford, attended the wed ding. The couple are expected to re turn soon from their wedding trip to Lake view. They will visit Mr. Krause's sister, Mrs. Harold Howard, at Eugene before coming here. Mr. end Mrs. Krause will make their home on lower Applegate. r-t Thimble Club Announces Meet The Phoenix Thimble club will meet on November 3, at the home of Neighbor Maude Daugherty, It was announced today. Mrs. Frank Haggerty, Mrs. A. R. Clement. Mlas Margaret Burr and Mrs. A. J. Hanby, motored to Eugene Monday, where they attended the Presbyterian Syn od leal. They returned here Wednes day evening. The synod was one of the largest conducted In many years, the dele gates reported, and local members of the congregation will b greatly interested In the reports. The meet ings were held In the Eugene Pres byterian church. Grants Pass Club To Prevent Operetta A tuneful operetta with a name that rouses the imagination, "The Feast of the Red Corn." Is being put in shape this week by the Grants Pass Women's chorus for presenta tion next Wednesday, October 34, at the high school auditorium.
