A couple of aqulrts from a hand extinguisher operated by Flre- man Eddie Demmer, quenched the flames. REGISTRATION IN Yesterday saw n Increase In the number of people registering for the general election, according to the county clerk's office. The registra tion books will close Saturday, Octo ber 6. County Clerk Carter report that there was a fairly steady stream of people registering all day yesterday. It la anticipated that the closing days will show something of a rush. Persons are required to reglswr who have not voted at a general elec tion for two years; who have moved to another precinct, or changed their address: women who married since the last election, and thereby chang ed their names; people who will rcai. the age of 31 years between now end election day, and persons who have not voted In this state before and have resided In it for six months. JUDGE FEE WILL E Federal Judge James Alger Fee will be here next Saturday when natural ization hearings will be held, accord ing to word received yesterday by lo cal federal officials. The federal court for the southern Oregon term was opened Tuesday and then recessed until Saturday. The delay was due to unfinished business at Portland, including the report of the federal grand Jury, which is con sidering a number of southern Ore gon criminal matters. The federal Jury' term will open next Tuesday. Four criminal cases and one civil case are docketed. The proceedings are expected to take a week. It will be one of the shortest sessions In many years.
