PLANS SUBMITTED
At the request of the president,
Robert H. Fechner, director of th
Civilian Conservation corps, has sub
mitted a report to President Roose
velt, In which he expresses his opin
ions of necessary changes in the CCC.

Fechner said this morning.
The leader In the emergency con
servation work said he had several
idea for new legislative enactment,
which la necessary If the CCC Is to
continue after March, 1935. Other
persons and agencies talcing an act
ive part In the CCO work nave been
asked for suggestions also, Mr. Fech
ner said.
"X do not think that conditions
will return to normal by the spring
of 1935," Mr. Fechner said, "and for
that reason I believe sew legislation
for a movement replacing the CCC
will be necessary..'

ing, Mr. rechner Joined Major Clare
H. Armstrong, district commander of
the CCO, and David H. Canfleld, act
ing superintendent of Crater Lake
national park. In an inspection tour.
They visited the CCC district head
quarters In the old city hall and the
headquarters detachment at the Jack
son county fair grounds.
The party then left for Camp Up
per Rogue River near Union Creek,
from where they planned to continue
to Camp Annie Springs and Camp
Wineglass In Crater Lake national
park, returning to Medford this af-
' ternoon.

tional parks, buildings and reserva
tions, left Medford for the park fol
lowing the banquet last nlht. He
also plans to visit the Oti-sj- dves
while In southern Oregon.

for any longshoreman for violence
during the waterfront strike here was
handed to Harley McCaitum In a
night session of municipal court
when he was sentenced to a alx
month jail sentence, a UO-day sen
tence and a 30-day sentence on three
counts. The sentences are to run
concurrently.
Throe complainant appeared and
told of having been beaten by mobs
led by McCallum on different daya.
Municipal Judge Long described
the case as "one of real violence, "
and he spoke of a "cowardly and
brutal attack, and of "gang rule."
McCal urn's attorney filed a motion
of appeal on all three convictions.
