John Bohn ert of Central Point drove an un named boat In B class, winning third place In the first run In 11:60. and fourth In the second heat in 11:30 'Fast Mall," with Parker Bundy of Medford at the controls, came In third in the second heat In 11 min utes, and fourth in the first hoat In 12. In the first heat of the free-for-all event, "Golden Slipper" placed first. "Redwing" second, "Irish Luck" third and "Peanuts" fourth. The times were 8:30, 8:40, 6:60, and 10 minutes, respectively. In the second heat, the order of finishing was "Golden Slipper", first; "Irish Luck". second, "Redwing", third; and "Pea nuts", fourth. Times for this run were 7:55, 8, 0, and 10 minutes, re spectively. The final event of the day, the runabout race, was won by Earl Voor- hies of Grants Pass In 13 minutes. Jim Daily of this city took second place in 13, Bohnert, in 'Norrene." placed third in 14, and "Printer's Ink", driven by Joe Marshall, came in fourth In 16 minutes. Officials of the Southern Oregon Boat club, whHh sponsored the races, estimated the crowd that lined both banks of the river at more than 1600. Although the river was roughened by a strong upstream wind, no upsets marred the day's performances. Aubrey Sanders of Medford and Bohnert provided novel entertain-1 ment between races with their exhi bitions of surfboat riding, Sanders thrilling the audience with a head- i stand while gilding over the water, and both demonstrating their skill with expert work. It was planned to put on a program of deep-sea diving, as the surprise event of the afternoon, but as the complete diver's suit failed to arrive, this part of the program was aban doned.
