Smith returD&d this morning from Portland where he attended the organization of the new Republican state committee of which he ts repre sentative from this county. The meeting was attended by rep resentatives from 30 of the 36 coun ties of the state, and from the har mony and enthusiasm that prevailed all through the meeting It Is evident the Republicans are united for party success of congressional, state and county tickets this fall. Arthur Prlault, publisher of a weekly paper In Chlloquln, Klamath county, was unanimously chosen chairman of the committee, and was authorized to appoint an executive committee of 20. The selection of a vice-president from each of the three congressional districts and the secretary and trea surer was left to the chairman, exec utive committee and state candidates. The resolutions gave full approval of the principles recently set forth by the national Republican commit tee and Its plan of campaign this fall; condemned General Martin for claiming the credit in securing the approval of the development of the Columbia river, when In fact It was declared Senator Charles L. McNary was primarily responsible for the same and condemned the extension of federal bureaucracy, adding of 89,000 more persons to the govern ment pay roll thereby by the present administration. Joe Dunne, Republican nominee for governor and other prominent men made short talks. ,75, PASSES WHILE GUEST! OF Mrs. Susie Moyer, long-time mem ber of the Methodist church. Rebekah lod and Relief Corps, passed away at the home of her son In this city at 9:20 a. m. Monday, at the age of 7fi years. Mrs. Moyer was born In Porter township, Michigan, September 3, 1858. Her church and fraternal mem. bershlp was at her old home town of Three Rivers, Mich. She came to Medford one month ago to make her home for a while with her son and daughter-in-law. Prior to that she had resided with another son In Portland. She leaves three sons, all of whom were present when the end came. They are: Ivan Moyer of Medford, Harry H., Portland, and Elmer O., or Detroit, Mich. Also two brothers and one sister reside in Michigan, and five grandchildren In Portland. Funeral services will be conducted at the Conger chapel by Rev W. R. Balrd, at 3:30 Wednesday. Services at the grave In the Medford I. O. O. K. cemetery will be under auspices of the local Rebekah lodge. GRAPHIC ACCOUNT OF STRIKE BY GILSTRAP C. W. Ollstrap, who recently re- turned from San Francisco, gave a graphic eye-wltneaa account of the strike riots, at the meeting of the 1 Toaatmaaters club at the Holland ho tel, Monday evening. Loul Richard- eon, toaetmaster for the evening, led the discussion on problems rising from the coastal strike. Leonard Terkelsen painted an In teresting word picture of "Famous Strikes of the Past,' and Frank Hull spoke on the Idaho mining strike during the early part of the century. , William Kelllngton reported the lo cal labor situation on the eve of toe packing season and was followed by Henry Pluhrer and Larry Pennington. boh of whom were able to present Interesting Angles on this subject Brief talks by Dr. J. B. Johnson, U. C, Groves and Dr. B. R. Elliott brought the meeting to a close.
