The extension of the rural mall routo
up the two branches of Williams
creek was started July 3. for Mon
days, Wednesdays and Fridays, on the
west fork, and Tuesdays, Thursdays
and Saturdays on the east fork. Archie
Powers has the contract,
Victor Coltrtn was seriously bruised
recently when a wagon loaded with
poles ran over him. He was driving
down a hill when the brake gave
way and the loaded wagon ran onto
the team, causing It to rear. One
line broke, throwing him forward onto
the tongue of the wagon, then onto
the ground and the loaded wagon
ran over his legs. He was taken Im
mediately to Grants Pass to the doc
tor. Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Blbby and chil
dren of Salem visited a week re
cently at the Sorrels and Morrison
homes. Mrs. Blbby Is a sister of Mrs.
Sorrels and Gene Morison.
Bert Cald has been visiting Ms
mother. Mrs. Jack Wlsecarver.
Nelson Warner Is in poor health this
summer.
Mrs. Bert Blgelow and Mrs. Henry
Norton of Grants Pass entertained

Fire, believed to have started from
the exhaust pipe of a tractor. Wed
nesday evening burned more than
hall aa acre of heavy barley on the
Pendleton place and threatened for
a time to destroy the entire grain
crop. Had It not been for the help of
the Nealon-WUson threshing crew,
who discovered the fire, as they were
passing by on their way home from
work, serious damage would have re
sulted. The gladlola beds here, belonging
to Rainy and Prultt are attracting
quite a little attention from flower
lovers In this section and through
out the valley. Many people drive
out to view the beautiful (lowers and
purchase bouquets.

Mlas Mary Smith waa taken to the
hospital at Medford Sunday and

Elden Parker of San Francisco, Mr.

of Grants Pass was also a visitor.
About 85 friends from Grants Pass
and Rogue Hlver Journeyed to the
home of Mr. and Mre. Bob Hill and
gave them an old fashioned surprise
