With no dog handy to eat the

day evening took a 10-11 win from
the Merchant of the same town in a
spectacular seven - Inning twilight
game. Regular townies met, for the
second time, ageing hasbeens of Jack
sonville who, 10 years ago, were the
class of southern Oregon.
With Leonard (Beanball) Hall on
the mound for the Miners, and Ernie
Mclntyre for the Merchants, the game
settled down to a steady battle of
errors and banter. Hall, Miner man
ager, made his first appearance as a
pitcher and ascended the mound clad
In belly protector and catcher's mask,
but shut his opponents out to four
scattered hits for the game, while
Mclntyre surrendered seven safeties.
Hall, however, walked seven men and
hit two In the tendon of Achilles,
which spoke well for his control, ad
mitted victims. He managed to whiff
three while his rival moundsman
struck out an equal number but
walked only three. Hall e "Beanball"
moniker was gained when his throws
reminded the Merchants of Mexican
