Fewell ! Yvonne Devaney Is Charming Bride At Wedding on Friday At an B:30 o'clock ceremony Fri day morning In the Sacred Heart church, Catholic. Miss Yvonne Deva ney. daughter o( Mr. and Mri. H. J. , Devaney, became the bride of Joseph Dugnn, son of Mr. and Mrs. T. O. Dugan. Reverend Father Francis W. Black officiated. The bride was charming In whit satin, with a long veil caught Into a cap bordered with orange blossoms. She carried a white prayer book from which hung a white marker. Her maid of honor was Mlsa Mildred Du gan, sister of the groom, who wore yellow organdie. The bridesmaids were Mlas Lucille Barrett, -who dressed in blue organdie, and Miss Genevieve Devaney, who was attired In pink or gandie. Both wore organdie picture hats matching their dresses, and bouquets of summer flowers. Richard Dugan was best man for his brother, and ushers were Joe Marshall and Henry Fisher. Miss Martha DeSouaa, at the or gan, played "Marche Romalne," by Qrunow, as the processional, and "Al legro Con Moto," by Sheppard, for the recessional. During the aervlce, Mrs. Zlta Maddox sang "Ponls An gellcus," a Gregorian chant, and "Ah, Whence to Me the Bliss." 1 After the wedding a reception was held at the home of the bride's parents, to which a number of their friends were Invited. Mrs. W. H. Fisher and Mrs, Dugan assisted Mrs. Devaney. Miss Livinjgston Is Hostess Saturday Mlsa Anne Livingston was hostess at tea Saturday inviting a group of friends to meet Major and Mrs. 0. V. Simpson of Fort Mason, Calif., who are visiting here, the guoats of Miss Livingston and her brother Major Ar chie Livingston. Harvey Tompkins, a student at Nebraska-Went cyan uni versity. Galen Underkofler of Lin coln, a fraternity brother, was his other attendant. Mra. Tompkins la the daughter of J. A. Gifford of Wayne, and a sis ter of Mrs. A. Orln Schenck of Med ford, with whom she has made her home for several years; also a sister of N. L. Gifford and Ferris L. Gif ford, both formerly of Medford. She was graduated from Medford high school and from the Southern Oregon Normal school at Ashland. For two yeara site taught in the Aider brook school In the Sardine Creek district, and one year at Ma-; eama, Wash. She then returned to Inman, Neb., where she has been teaching the primary grades In the lnman schools for two years. Dr. Tompkins Is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Leon R. He Is a graduate of Nobraska-Wos-leyan university at Lincoln and wns recently graduated from the Nebras ka College of Medicine. . A buffet luncheon was served Im mediately after the ceremony and Dr. and Mrs. Tompkins departed for the Century of Progress exposition In Chicago. After July 1 they wilt be at home In Indianapolis, Ind where Dr. Tompkins has an appoint ment to an Internship at the Univer sity of Indiana. McCnrkles Visit Relatives Hern Mr. and Mrs. J. Albert McCorkle and son Bobby are In Medford from Weed, visiting Mra. McCorkle's par ent, Mr. and Mrs. H. E Wcrtmnn. The McCorkles formerly resided here. In an eight o'clock ceremony at the home of the bride's parents on East Main street. The ceremony was performed agnlnst a background of gladioli. The bride wore a dress of figured crepe, and a corsage of yellow roses and old fashioned flowers. Only members of the Immediate families were In attendance. A small reception was held after the ceremony. For her going away costume, the bride wore a tan sport suit, with white accessories. Follow ing several days stay at Diamond Lake, Mr. and Mrs. Thompson will make their home during the summer at Peter Pan camp on the Rogue. Missionary Group Meets on Friilay The Woman's Missionary aociety of the First Christian church will meet for regular meeting on Frldny, July 0. at 3 o'clock In the recreational hall of the church. This Is tho first meeting of the new missionary year, and the newly elected president. Mrs. F. J. Wllinot, will preside at the business period. Lamb, and Mlsa Louise Hodges, which took place June 33 In St. Peter's Episcopal church, at Carson City, Nevada, the Reverend Hersey offic iating. Mrs. Lamb is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. N. T. Hodges of this city, nnd has been teaching In tho Oak land, Calif., schools for sovornl years. Mr. Lamb Is also a former resident of Medford, having been as sociated with the California -Oregon Power company here. Rogue's Roost To Fly South Today Guests of Nlon Tucker, Jr., who have been visiting at Rogue's Roost, the Tucker summer lodge on Rogue river, are leaving this morning by plane for San Francisco, having spent the past week here. From the lodge, the party made a couple of trips during the week to Diamond lake, where they enjoyed fishing. Members of the group, who flew to Medford last Sunday, are Barnaby Conrad, Lawrence McCreary, Michael McCauley and Genevieve Lyman. Miss Lyman will either return south on the plane, or on the Shasta thla even ing. She was the guest of Miss Phyllis Ann Tucker, while here. Mrs. Lundy Invites Club To Her Home Mrs. J. S. Lundy, who resides on the Jacksonville highway, was host ess to the Oak Grove Neighborhood club Wednesday, with 13 members present. Visitors were Mrs. E. R. Wheeler of Portland. Mrs. S. D. Jones and Miss Irene B re wold. Election of officers was held, with Mrs. W. H. Roberts named as presi dent, to succeed Mrs. Lundy, and Mrs. Raymond Baker was elected sec retary succeeding Mrs. Mlnear. Plans were completed for a picnic to be held at the Jackson Hot Springs July 11. Following the busi ness meeting, a reading was given by Miss Brewold. Refreshments were served by the hostess, assisted by her daughter, Mrs. Wheeler. To Return Home From Scout Camp Miss Barbara Jean Schuler, daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. I. E. Schuler, will return home today from Lake o' the Woods, where she has been attending scout camp for the pact two weeks. The Schulera will motor to the lake today for her. Costume Party Enjoyed at Church. Mrs. Bowman entertained the Young People's society of the St. Peter'a Lutheran church on June 15 In the church parlors, at a "Kid's party." Prizes at contests went to Ora Mae Thedc and Anne Guetzlaff, and Mrs. Ednah Tama and J. Nichols were awarded prizes for the best cos tumes. Mr. Carpenter Observes Eightieth Birthday Anniversary June 36 being the eightieth anni versary of F. S. Carpenter's birthday, a large number of his friends visited his home tn perrydale to extend con gratulations and good wishes, the many visitors formed a surprise party. Cars began arriving at 3 o'clock In the afternoon and continued until 9:30 o'clock, leaving his home filled with the fragrance of flowers and loving remembrances. Winners for the evening's play were Miss Hclcne Salade and James Hayes, Jr. At the close of the tournament, refreshments were serv ed. - - Miss Bates Weds Mr, Dooms Friday Miss lone Bates, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. D. M. Bates of Medford. and William Dooms, son of Mr, and Mrs. P. A. Dooms, also of this city, were united in marriage Friday aft ernoon at two' o'clock. The ceremony was performed at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph U. Bou telle, by Judge Earl B. Day. Tho wedding was held In the south garden, with a background of pink and white daisies. A reception was held afterward at the Boutelle home. The rooms were decorated tn pale pink and orchid shaded flowers. Following the ceremony, the couple left on a wedding trip north. Gore, have been requested to present a half hour program tomorrow at the as sembly of the Southern Oregon Nor mal school, at 1:50 p. m. Concerted groups for two pianos and solo num bers will mnke up the program.
