(AP) Somewhat more than fttOO,' .0 will bo turned over to the Oregon un employment relief fund on July 1 by the state liquor control commis sion, which already haa sent 944,000 to the state treasury. This statement was made by Geo. I,. Snmmls, ndmlnlstrator for the commission, at the Wednesday meet ing here. Liquor aiilea will reach $340,000 this month, compared with $313,000 In May, Samntls estimated. Sales for the year, Sammts behoves, will reach the two million dollar mark. The report of the administrator showed that store and agency pay rolls have been decreased 92788 In operation, compared with original op eration. With the exception of the Oregon Cltv store, all are on a proflt mnklng basis, although 38 of the 110 agencies have yet to produce a profit. Sammls said other reductions In op erating costs, Including travel ex pense, will amount to about $1100 a month. Early next week the commission will open Its own bottling works and Sam mis said this will mean a high grade blended liquor will be avail able at new low prices. There was some Indication that the commission will recommend to the January legislature that beer license fees bo boostod greatly. Chairman George W. McMorran said the pres ent license of 916 a year la "ridicu lous" and he believes 9260 would be equitable. He explained that many places started "beer parlors" on ft "shoestring." that the places have multiplied alarmingly and policing of them has become correspondingly more difficult.
