Mrs. Neff Hostess To Altar Guild The final meeting of St. Mark's Altar guild was held Monday evening at the attractive home of Mrs. Porter J. Neff. Assisting the hostess were Mendames James Stevens, Mrs. Jack Tobin and Mrs. Royal E. Bebb. Garden Club Plans Flower Show With Extensive Displays The Medford Garden club will hold its annual flower show in the high school gymnasium Wednesday. Thurs day and Friday of Jubilee Week. Mrs. Louis Salade, Jr., and her general committee has announced that the classifications will be similar to those used In previous years. This year an effort Is being made to Interest the other garden clubs of southern Oregon and the federated women's clubs, to put in community exhibits. Jane Snedicor will have charge of these special arrangements of flowers, fruits and vegetables. Mrs. E. R. Driver will have charge of the children's exhibits, and Japa nese gardens. Mrs. Rupert Henry heads the committee which will have charge of displays of fruits and veg etables. Mrs. Porter J. Neff will be chairman of the breakfast, occasional and tea table arrangements. Another Interesting Innovation will be the bouquets arranged in contain ers to match the flowers. These and other special flower arrangements In baskets, pottery, glass and metal will be In charge of Mrs. R. E. Green. Mrs. H. A. DuBuque Is chairman of the short stemmed flower division, Mrs. Gilbert Stuart, the medium stemmed flowers; Mrs. L. Bundy, the tall garden flowers; Mrs. Alfred Car penter, rosts and Mrs. C. L. Goff, flowering sprays. There is no entrance nor admission charge at all and it Is hoped . that every one will plan to enter whatever he has in order that this year's show may be the largest and best one ever held in southern Oregon. , , All exhibits must be In place by 11 o'clock, Wednesday. June 6, and the show will remain open for three days and evenings. - Class Party On Tuesday - ' . The Loyal Women's class' of the Christian church will hold Its regular business and social meeting Tuesday at 2 p. m.. May 15, In the recreation al halt. All members are urged to attend. Visitors will be welcome Church Circle Plans Sale The Ever Ready circle of the Pres byterlan church met with Mrs. Frank Lindley Tuesday afternoon. After the regular meeting, a pleasant afternoon was spent. The hosteites were Mrs, Smith and Mrs. Lindley. The rum mage sale Is to be held May IB and 19 In the I. O. O. F hall, next door to Peasley's. Degree of Honor Announces Card Partr At the Degree of Honor meeting Thursday in the city hall, plans were made for a card party the evening of May 17. In the city hall club rooms, to which all persons Interest ed In cards, are Invited. A visitor at the Thursday meeting was Robert Thompson of Hawaii, who Is guest here of his parents. Chrysanthemum Circle To Meet Wednesday Chrysanthemum circle will meet In regular session In I. O. O. F. hall, Wednesday at 8 o'clock. A Mother's Day program and refreshments will be furnished by the young members. All members of the team and all Neighbors of Woodcraft are urged and Invited to be present as final arrangements will be made for en tertaining the Crescent City circle, who will present us with the Grand Guardian Autograph Album, on June 6th, during Jubilee week. Mothers' Day Incentive For Club Program Mistletoe club met Wednesday afternoon with Neighbors Cora Lewis, Twenty-eight members and seven visitors were present. Vases of lovely roses were used for decoration. Moth er's day was the Incentive for the entertainment. President Marie Wells gave a read ing, and several other members paid tribute to Mother. Refreshments were served on the lawn by the committee in charge: Neighbors Hodgklna, Alice Lewis. Donna Taylor and Preida Kings ley. State P. E. 0. Convention To Open Here on May 21 Beginning with Monday, May 21, i and continuing for three days. Med-i ford will have the honor of enter- talnlng a convention unique and in- terestlng in many ways. The local ( chapter of the P. E. O. Sisterhood, consisting of 32 members, is bringing a group of outstanding women from ! all parts of Oregon. The local chapter will act as hos tess to the state convention In a material as well as an entertaining I way. With chapter funds they will i house their delegates at the Medford i and Holland hotels and the Medford hotel will serve all meals at the ex pense of the local group of women. Since the sisterhood Is an organi zation which stands for cultural growth, there will be many out standing musical contributions and Inspiring addresses. The business sessions will be held In the Presbyterian church, which will be beautifully decorated for the occasion. The members of Chapter AA have been busy for months plan ning flavors and Interesting enter tainment features for their guests. Registration wilt take place at the Medford hotel on Monday morning with committee meetings and state board conferences. The enormous educational fund which Is a major project of the sis terhood will receive a great deal of attention during the convention ses sions. At 1:15 p. m. the convention will officially open with a beautiful pro. cessional of state officers, color bear- j ers, guards and pages. I Mrs. H. E. Marsh, local well known organist, will have charge of the music for the opening and will be at the organ later In the day dur ing memorial hour. Supreme President Miss Mabel Doud of Davenport, Iowa, will be an honored guest, also Dorothy Seymour, chairman of the board of supplies, and Veda Jones of Portland, who is supreme treasurer. Fliegel, president of the local group, reports that members of Chapter AA plan to take the 110 delegates In groups of 26 or more Into their homes for Informal din ners on Monday evening. Each hostess will be assisted by sev ers! other members. On Tuesday evening two or three hundred persons are expected to at tend the banquet to be given In the Medford hotel dining room. After the banquet an open session will be held at the church to which the public is Invited, The husbands of P. E. O.'s are known as B. I. L.'a and the local unit Is planning to take all dele gates as their guests on a trip to Crater Lake Tuesday afternoon. A lunch will be served at the Rogue Elk hotel en route to the lake. C. C. Tal bot of Albany will give readings. Reames Chapter Enjoys Social Members of Reames chapter, No. 60, O. E. S., held an Interesting meet Wednesday evening at the Masonic hall. After a delightful initiation ceremony, refreshment were served by the committee appointed for the month. Mrs. Hal Piatt is chairman. Chapter membera and their guests enjoyed the Informal social hour. Circle Society Honors Mothers The Circle- society of the First Christian church held ' Its regular monthly meeting Tuesday evening with mothers of the members as guests. Virginia Gregory was leader of the program. Interesting talks were given by Genevieve Brown, Roxie Fry, and Marjorle Gregory. Doris Wade fa vored the group with a violin solo. Virginia Gregory and Genevieve Brown sang a duet, a tribute to the mothers. H. M. S., held Tuesday after noon In the church parlors of the First M. E. church. Mrs. Holloway presided during the business session, opening with prayer and song in concert. A letter was read from Mrs. S. L. Leonard to the society, her home now being In San Carlos, Calif. An announcement was made of the Cascade district meeting in progres sive form, to be held May 16 and 17 at Dillard and Roseburg. The program Included, "A Faithful Mite Box" by Mrs. Bernard Roberts; playlette, "Pandora Box", characters, Misses Chlrgwln, Trill. Dynan, Gil lings, Bate man, Llttrell, Blgler, Cow- den, Jenkins and Patricia Smith: and vlbra harp solo, "Viennese Refrain", Miss Duff. A playlet. "Full Mite Box. Means Open Doors" was portrayed by Mes- dames Beery, Jenkins and McNary. with the following child characters: Beverly Whitman. Shirley Pankey. The hostesses, Mrs. Roberts, Mrs. Bateman and Mrs. Jackson served re freshments during the social half hour. Mrs. Roberts Leaving Today Mrs. George M, Roberts is leaving today for a trip through the east. She plana to spend some time in Cincinnati. What the Girl Scouts Are Doing Many interesting affairs are In store for Scouts during the month of May. All Scouts of southern Oregon are to Join In a picnic Saturday. May 10 at Ashland. A gala time Is pro mised all thOAe who attend. Further plans and details will be announced later. The Berrydale troop gave a tea Saturday afternoon for their mothers, at the home of Mrs, W. W. Walker on East Main street. Guests called between the hours of three to five. The next Court of Awards will be held May 26 at the Junior high school beginning at 2 o'clock. All Scouts working for badges are asked to be present and receive them. Games and refreshments will fol low the presentation of awards. To Conduct Camp Scout camp Is assured and many will soon be making plans to spend a happy two weeks or more at camp. Many organizations have volunteered financial assistance to girls who are unable to go, otherwise, and these pledges will be most acceptable at any time. Organizations who have not contributed may get In touch with Mrs. Leonard Carpenter or Mrs. Gordon Voorhles. Itoosevelt Troop The greater part of the last meet ing was spent In completing the first and second class work. The girls discussed plans for an over-night trip to be taken sometime after the Jubilee. Three of the scouts had birthdays on meeting night, so of course we had to celebrate.
