Russell Ulrlch, Clare Arm strong, Jack and Robert Littrell, F. O. E. Auxiliary Elects Officers At the regular meeting. May 4, of the Ladles' Auxiliary to the Crater Lake Aerie, 2093, F. O. Round Robtn Club Enjoys Applegate Swim Members of the Round Robin club motored to Applegate Sunday for a picnic dinner. Those who observed May birthdays were: Lewis Bashaw. Zoa Arnold and Rob Glllman. Each was presented with & birthday cake, and presents. A short business meeting followed dinner. Guest were: Margaret Edens, Evelyn Kauffman of Jacksonville. Scene of Benefit Card Party Charming In detail was the benefit card party for the drill team of Royal Neighbors sponsored by Calla Geer at her home last week. Lovely flowers were used about the rooms, where several tables of cards were In play during the afternoon. Prizes were awarde4 Mrs. O. A. Dalley, who won high score at bridge, and Mrs. Cora Lewis, who held high score at BOO. Following games, refreshments were served by the hostess, assisted by Mrs. Marie Wells, Mrs. Marie Sylvia and Mrs. Cora Lewis. - Past Matrons Feted At Lovely Luncheon Members of the Past Matrons' club met for 1 o'clock luncheon Monday afternoon at the Masonic hall, which was beautifully decorated in spnng flowers for the occasion. Covers were arranged for 24 at the luncheon table an dthe afternoon was devoted to cards. Prizes were awarded Mrs. C. O. Larison and Mrs. Stella Merrick. Mrs. W. H. McGowan, chairman of the pleasant affair, was assisted as hostess by Mrs. Chas. T. -Sweeney and Miss Gertrude Weeks. VanScoyoc. Mr. and Mrs. Finch Of Hoqulam Visit Here Mr. and Mrs. T. C. Finch of Ho qulam, Wash., were week-end guests of Mr. and Mrs. F. E. Nichols on South Holly. They left for California this morning.. JACKSON CO. TRIO ELIGIBLE SOON TO Three men serving time from Jack son county for participation in crimes and attempted crimes concerning banks, are eligible for parole, subject to action by the parole board, ac cording to the district attorney's of' fice. Robert Glenn, sentenced to IS years for attempted robbery of the State Bank of Central Point, In September, 1930. will complete his minimum time within the next six months. Attorney E. E. Kelly of this city has interested himself in behalf of Glenn. The dis trict attorney's office has stated "there would be no objection to the parole of Glenn." Glenn was convicted by a Jackson county Jury. Botrj the district attor ney and the state police, at the time, held the view that Glenn "took the rap" for another who Inspired him to attempt the bank robbery. The authorities insisted that Glenn did not tell the full story, through a false sense of loyalty.. Glenn was Identified as the bandit. He offered as a defense that he was traveling in an auto between this city and Ashland, at the time of the crime. Glenn Is a model prisoner. Henry J. Karthelser, an Idaho youth, serving eight years for holding up and robbing the Farmers and Fruitgrowers' bank of this city of 700, In October, 1030, Is also eligible for parole within a few months. The youth was arrested In his room In the Jackson hotel a short time aftar the robbery. All the loot was re turned. He pleaded guilty. L. Alvin Tolleison, former cashier of the State bank of Central Point, serving two And one-half years for confessed perpetration of a btnk rob bery hoax, to cover his own defal cations, Is eligible for parole this month. Tom L. Brecheen of Ashland, serv ing 18 months for admitted partici pation In the ballot-stealing, will be eligible for parole in July. Brecheen, one of the "star boarders' at the county Jail during the regime of Eirl H. Fehl, admitted plotting and "stand ing guard" during a "Good Govern ment Congress" meeting, while the vote burglary was underway. He was a frequent sleeper and a regular diner at the county Jail table during the turmoil, it was shown. Walter Duff, Jr., In his sermon on "Ships," emphasized the fact that every ship must have a captain and that we are like ships sailing over life's sea, and we, too, must have a captain, even Jesus.
