Hour which was conducted by the
worthy lecturer. Roll call was an
swered by each member telling sr. me
current event of interest. A discus
sion on, "What can we do for the
betterment of the community," was
participated In by the members.
Mrs. Frank Greenwood gave a short
reading from Ella Wheeler Wilcox.
Three candidates were Instructed
in the work of the fourth degree
We were glad to see two visiting
members from Phoenix Grange on
the side lines. Live Oak Grange Is
always glad to welcome visiting mem
bers from other granges.
Next meeting, to be held May 7th.
will be In the form of a program
under direction of Flora and should
prove very Interesting, especially as
flowers of all kinds will be on dis
play, and they will be the main topic.
Songs, readings and legends pertain
ing to flowers will comprise the pro
gram of the lecture hour.

Curfew may ring again In the city
of Medford, It was revealed at last
night's meeting or the city council.
A great demand lor renewal of the
old-time warning to the city's youth
has been made, Mayor E. M. Wilson
Informed the city dads, and the re
quests were referred to the public
safety committee.
The curfew ordinance, It was point
ed out, Is still on the books. Its
enforcement can be ordered at any
time and, several councllmen agreed
with the mayor, "children, running
at large in Medford nights, are be
coming a problem."
Parents rail In Duty.
ue councllmen agreed that the
parents should keep them at home,
but added that, since ttiey were fall
ing to do so, the city might as well
jssume the responsibility to the ex
tent of ringing the 9 o'clock bell.
Other indications of summer's' ap
proach were revealed in a motion to
postpone meetings 01 the city coun
cil from the 7:30 hour to 8 o'clock.
T,he motion, which Is an annual one,
passed and the next regular meeting
will be held at the latter Hour.
Requests for Installation of sewers
on Court street were referred to
committee. Petition for drainage of
a portion of Narregan street was also
referred to the streets and roads
committee.

, A report from the boxing commis
sion, submitted to the council,
showed a total of $341.44 In the
treasury.
Request for Installation of illumi
nated city entrance signs by the city
before opening of Oregon's Diamond
Jubilee .here this summer, forwarded
the council by E. C. Jerome, jubilee
chairman, was referred to the finance
committee.

The annual city audit and reports
of the recorder and treasurer pre
sented were ordered filed. The treas
urer's report, submitted by Gus H.
Samuels, showed a tctal balance on
March 31 of $128,174.46. The cash

IN TOURIST TRAVEL
TO WEST THIS YEAR
Predicting a marked pickup In
tourist travel to the northwest this
year, the Southern Pacific company
has announced material reductions
In roundtrip transportation for the
summer season.
The low fares will be In effect
from May 15 to October 15, with re
turn limit of October 31, according
to representatives of the railroad.
Intermediate and coach rates will
be cut particularly, It was stated,
and all classes of roundtrip fares to
Chicago will be reduced to accommo
date travel to the World Fair, sched
uled to rc-open May 38.
With Pullman fares already cut
one-third throughout western and
southeastern territory, and with
plans completed for addition of new
alr-condltloned equipment to its
leading trains, Southern Pacific Is
preparing for heavy travel to and
from the northwest, officials said.

Eelma, Oregon, following finding of
a badly decomposed body Identified
as Luther L. Young, aged 67, a pros
pector who resided at selma.
The body was found floating on
the waters of McMullen creek about
three miles from Selma by members
of the camp, according to U. Pres
ton E. Rohner. member of t.ie army
stnff In charge of the camp.
