The Medford Rogues will make their initial appearance before Med ford fans at the fair grounds Sunday when they cross bats with the fast Shaw-Bertram Lumber Co. team in a pre -season game. The Shaw-Bertram team, last year's Klamath and Lake county champions, was defeated last Sunday by the Rogues, 11 to 3. at Klamath Falls and are out for re venge. They plan on Importing sev eral players In the hopes of downing the high-stepping Rogues, who only the week before whitewashed the Grants Pass Athletics 4 to 0. Manager Halght announced that Chief McLean will be on the mound with hla new catcher, peppery Dean Joy behind the bat. Incidentally McLean has not had an earned run scored against htm this year. He pitched five Innings against Jackson ville without allowing a hit or run, nine Innings against Grants Pass, al lowing five hits and no runs and nad the Shaw-Bertram team shut out until the eighth Inning -when two errors In succession allowed three runners to cross the plate. The new uniforms will not arrive until some time next week, states Halght, and Medford fans are asked to bear the old ones with him for just one more game. According to Paul Rynnlng, the fair grounds diamond will be In Al shape. He has promised to put the scraper and roller on It within a day or two. COUPLE EXCITEMENT Mr. and Mrs. M. Morthland of th'.s city yesterday reported an exciting day on the Rogue. Fishing near t'.is mouth of Elk creek, they danded an 11-pound steelhead and a salmon. Mr. Morthland got the salmon on light tackle and was on the verge of losing the fish, when Mrs. Morthland wided in, grabbing It in her hands.
