Chandler Egan, who are sailing soon for Europe, Mr, Egsn to invade English golfdom as member of the Walker cup team. Colonel and Mra. Gordon .Voorhies were hosts yesterday at their attrac tive country home at a tea dance, honoring the young Mr, and Mrs. Voorhies. They were assisted In re ceiving by Mrs. Voorhies' sister, Mra Margaret Blddle, who was over from Yarns! ranch for the occasion. Invi tations were Issued to 76 guests. Mr. and Mrs. Alfred S. V. Carper ter entortalned at "Topsldos" Friday night with a dinner for the pleasure of- Mr. and Mrs, Voorhies and Mr. and Mrs. Egan. Other guests were Mr. and Mrs. Oaln Robinson, Mr. and Mrs. O. M. Roberts, Miss Frances Sparrow and Paul Boherer. Wednesday evening, Mr, and Mrs, W. W. Aldrlch entertained Mr. and Mrs. Voorhies at dinner, and the same day Mrs. w. H. Mulrhead was hostess at her home in Siskiyou Heights at luncheon, honoring Mrs. Voorhies and Mrs. Egan. Luncheon was followed by bridge with two tables In play. The Egans will salt April 10 and 20 from New York, Mrs. Egan on the latter date with her sister. Miss Bar rett of Chicago with whom she will tour Europe. Entertained at Portland Club Mlsees Ethel Chord and Sibyl Jean Young have returned to Medford from spending several days In Port land. Ralph Thomas and Foster Bur nett entertained In their honor at the Club Victor, with a dinner dance. Miss Chord plans to return north In two weeks, to enter dancing school. She will be Mcdford's' guest Tuesday at the home demonstration meeting to be conducted by Mrs. Mabel Mack at the county court house. Wednesday she will attend the all day meeting of the county Parent Teacher council, to be held at Eagle Point, at which a large Delegation is expected from Medford. Mrs. Kletzer Is actively supporting the sales tax, as necessary to the welfare of Oregon children, the first concern of PsrentTeaoher workers. Women, wishing to attend the Eagle Point meeting, who do not have transportation, are asked to call Mrs. Arthur Short, Mrs. Jack Heyland or Mrs. Frank Dlllard. Carpenters Motor Home With Guest An Interesting guest In the valley last week was Mrs. Meredith Bailey of Sisters, Ore., w,ho was visitor at the Leonard Carpenter home. The Carpenters motored to Sisters with Mrs. Bailey when she returned the last of the week. M. O. Flndley of Salem. Sunny Sinters Dine at D'Alblnl Home Tuesday The Sunny Sisters of the Presby terian church will hold regular monthly meeting Tuesday, April 10, at the home of Mrs. O. Q. D'Alblnl, 48 Quince street, where covered dish luncheon will be served at 1 o'clock. Each member Is asked to bring her own table service. Mrs. J. H. Cochran and Mrs. Laura West will be the as sistant hostesses and members are Invited to bring guests. The officers, elected at the last meotlng were: Mrs. George West, president, Mrs. Louis Brown, vlce prnsldont, and Mrs, Laura West, sco re tary-trensuror. The circle hss made an especially fine financial record during the past year, for which much credit U due Mrs. Ralph Sweeney, president for the post two years. A vote of appre ciation is extended her by the mem bership. Mrs. Holmes Feted At Bridge Luncheon Mrs. David Rosenberg entertained at luncheon and bridge Wednesday aiiernoon at her home on Reddy ave nue, honoring Mr. Rosenberg's moth er, Mrs. John R. Holmes, of Seattle, who Is her house guest for a few weeks. Sixteen guest were Invited for the afternoon. Churoh Group Plans Meeting Women's Mlselonsry socrlety of the First M. K. church will mest Tues day afternoon with Mrs. W. Walker at her home on East Main street. Mothers' Club Plana Bridge Party At the meeting Friday evening of the Mothers' club of the Sacred Heart church, held at the .home of Mrs. Frank DoSouza, plans were made for the card party at St. Mary's acad emy Thursday, April 10, being spon sored by the olub. The affair will be a dessert bridge. 4 Royal Neighbors Take In Members Royal Neighbors mst In regular business session Thursday evening, with a splendid attendance. Four new membera were taken Into the order. District Deputy Lenora Brolll was present and assisted In perfecting plans for the district con vention to be held In Ashland early In June. Fir St. At a lovely tea yesterday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Harry Hansen, 015 Queen Anne avenue, the engage ment of Miss Arlen Hay, charming daughter of Mrs. Richard Hay of Central Point, to William Harrlmon. son of Mrs. W. J. Rogers, of Medford, was announced to 40 friends of the bride-elect, who called between the hours of three and five. A color scheme of lavender and yellow was expressed In decoratlona of lllaca and tulips, used about the rooms, and In th dainty corsages, worn by the hostesses and others as sisting at the tea. In the receiving line were Mrs. Hansen, Miss Hay, Mrs. W. J. Rogers and little Richard Leever, son of Mr. and Mra. Earl Leever of Central Point who handed out the betrothal cards to the guest. Mrs. Curtis Darby and Mrs. Howard Cohurn presided at the tea table during the first hour and Mrs. Dar win K. Burgher and Miss Helen Win ter during the second hour. The two latter were sorority sisters of Miss Hay at the University of Oregon, where all were affiliated with Alpha Gamma Delta. Mrs. Earl Leever of Central Point assisted about the rooms. The wedding will be an event of the early summer and the bridal couple will make their home In San Francisco. Miss Hay, who Is now a member of the teaching surf at Central Point, has many friends In th Rogue River valley. Mr. Harrlman 1 also weU known here, where he Is at present associated with Montgomery Ward and company. Mr. Geo. Laldley To Entertain Club Th Pythian elub member are asked to meet at the home of Mrs. Oeo. Laldley, 413 West Second on Tuesday, April 10th and bring their quilt blocks. Easter Luncheon Lovely Event it Parish Hall ' Easter colors of lavender, yellow and white, were used In the decora tion of parish hall for the large party Monday, sponsored by the wo men of the Sacred Heart church. There were 31 tables of carda In play following luncheon and a color scheme of yellow and white was carried out In 'the attractive tallies and in the refreshment. Prizes were awarded Mra. DeSouza Sr., Mrs. Van Gilbert, Mr. W. H. Smith and Mrs. MacDougal. Spanish War Veterans Auxiliary Honor Leader Oolonel Sargent camp, T7. 0. W. V. and Auxiliary msmbers met at the Armory Friday evening and enter tained the following camps: Grants Pass, Hlllsboro, Roseburg and Port land, honoring the department oom mander, Harry B. Reed, and the auxiliary president, Elizabeth Reed. Several other department officer and past department offtcera were present. A chicken dinner was served at 0:30 and was followed by a Joint meeting. Department Commander Reed gave a very Instructive talk on veterans' legislation. Chief of Staff Sam Stormer of Roseburg gav a most Interesting description of the home at Roseburg. An hour of bridge and five .hundred ws enjoyed, after which dellcloust refreshment were served by th hostess, assisted by her daugh ter, La Merl, and Neighbor Margaret Garrett. Pythian Club Has Pleasant Evening The Pythian club held its regular meeting Tuesday evening at the home of Mrs. Emma Jeschke. Bridge, SCO and Bunco were played during the evening, after which delicious re freshment were served. Bridge prizes were awarded to Mrs. Mabel Kltson and Miss Margsret Flsk, 000 prizes to Mrs. J, Wolfe and Mrs. Fisher, and Bunoo prizes to Mrs. Maxlne Ferg and Mrs. Msbel Edwsrds. The next meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. J. Harvey Cook, 412 South Oakdale, April 17th. narden Club Ha Interesting Meeting The Medford Garden olub held a very interesting meeting Thursday evening, and those present greatly enjoyed Mrs. Mentzer's review of the book Do It With a Garden," by Leonard Robblns, and a lovely bou quet of tulips brought from th Will Warner ffardens. A membership contest 1 to b started t once under the leadership Of Mr. Leland Mentzer. Prizes have been donated by Mr. L. I. Williams. Will Wamer and the Wurt Oirft shop. Mrs. L. Bundy announced that the recent plant ssle netted the club $26.59. Mrs. T. W. Miles, the presi dent, announced tfte nominating committee as follows: Mrs. Lillian Woodford, chairman, Mrs. H. F. W. Spllver and Mrs. Louis Brown. An Invitation was read from the Illinois Garden club, Inviting the Medford elub to attend their wild flower show, which will be held In Kerby Friday, April IS. At this time Mrs. Lincoln Savage will give a talk on Oregon wild flowers.
