Welter Shuholm of Portland Is the only Democratic candidate. Ben nett, both of Portland, filed for the Republican nomination, along with three others w. A. oawaii, nsrry JCenln and William P. Slgureison John J. Bcckman. Grover O. Fretwell, Ralph M. Erwln and Walter B. Glea- son will seek tne Democratic nonoro. Nott Falls to rue. In the first district the Republl ean contest remain between James w. Mott and J. M. Devers, while w. A. Delrell of Salem filed against John D. Goes of Marshfleld and R. R. Tur tier of Dallas for the Democratic con- teat. Earl Nott of McMlnnvllle, who announced he might be a candidate, failed to file. Walter M. Pierce la uncontested for the Democratic nomination for re-election In the second district, while Jay TJpton of Bend will com pete with David F. Graham of Vale for the Republican nomination, The race for the other position on the atate aupreme court on the non partisan ballot will be settled in the primaries between Chief Justice John L. Rand and George R. Bailey of Htllsboro. The law provldea that a majority at the primary election names the successful candidate. Three Keek rfunieenip. Four have filed for the three posi tions In the second dlatrlct, com prising the counties of Benton. Coos, Curry. Douglas, Lane and Lincoln. They are B. L. Eddy and Carl E, Wlm berly of Roaeburg: G. F. Sklpworth of Eugene and J- T. Brand of Marsh fleld. All but Wlmberly are now on L the bench. Five are contesting the one seat In the Klamath county dlatrlct: Judge William M. Duncan, D. B. Walker, Republican and R W, Hogg, Democrat; In the Joint Linn and Lane county for E. A. Mc- Cormack, Eugene Republican and C, A. Schooling, Junction City Democrat; In Lane county for H. C. Wheeler, Republican and L. L. Ray, Democrat. Ko Demo, Senate Seeker. No Democratic candidates were listed for state senate from Jackson county where George W. Dunn of Aahland and Victor Bureell of Med ford filed for the Republican nomi nation; and In Yamhill county where W. E. BurXe and Eugene E. Marsh contest for the Republican honors. In Marlon county, where two sena tors are to be elected, four Republi cans are listed Charles K. Spauld lng, Frank Settlemeler, Otto K. Faults and Douglas McKay. F. L. Utter and James Preble are uncontested for the Democratic nomination. For President Fred E. Kiddle's seat from the 19th district pf Morrow. Umatilla and Union counties, Jack E. Allen of Pendleton Is without op position for the Democratic nomina tion, while R. E, Bean of Freewater and J. M. Richards of Stanfleld filed on the Republican ballot. Chapman Candidate. j Ninety-nine men and women filed for seats in the house of representa tives from Multnomah county, or which 13 are to be elected. Of this number, which sets a new record for Multnomah county filings, 68 are Re publicans and 41 are Democrats. The feature of the Multnomah county filings was the declaration of C. C Chapman, editor of the Oregon Voter, who haa attended all sessions for years but never before filed for of fice or been a member. He Joined the Republicans for a seat In the house.
