Chand ler was having hard time gettins north to his home in Corvallls. for he didn't have a license on his car. Chandler had letters from his family there, saying If he reached CorvalU by Monday he would have work. State police arrestd Chandler here, and he was fined t5 in Justice court here for operating the car without a li cense. Lnable to pay the fine or buy a license. Chandler's sentence was suspended, when he got to Gran's Pass, another state police officer ar- rested h!m. and he was ordered to purchase a license for his car not later than April 10. Chadivli'k Leaving Corporal Jalrus Chadwlck. on duty for the past few months as acting first sergeant and supply sergeant of headquarters de tachment, CCC, la leaving todav to Join his regular army organization. Co. c, 7th Infantry, stationed at Van couver Barracks, Wash. Corporal Chadwlck came here with the advance cadre of company 926. CCC, to establish Camp Applegate, which at that time was In the Eugene dis trict. Upon his return to Vancouver Barracks, Corporal Chadwlck will be discharged, as his regular term of enlistment has expired. INSURANCE ESSAY The Rogue Valley Life Underwrit ers' association met this morning at breakfast at the Jackson .hotel to go over essays In this year's contest among all the students of Junior and senior high schools on the subject, "The Value of Life Insurance to tne Community." The contest Is Just completed. Purpose of the meeting was to elim inate as many as possible and make the task of the Judges easier. The Judge, Ray Wright, president of the association; Eugene Thorndike and Wm. McAllister, will meet Wednesday and select the final winners. The assocation appreciates the response received this year from all over the county. Essays were received from practically every community that supports a high school, and the es says were of such a high standard that even the preliminary Judging was difficult. The results will be announced shortly and the winning essay will be published in the Mall Tribune. Seven Scouts received nine awards. The newly organized board of re view met prior to the court of honor and reviewed the Scouts in their work. L. D. Jones is the chairman of this committee, which consists of Dr. C. H. Paske, Dr. F. O, Bunch, s. M. Bullls, A. O. Eden and the Eagle Scouts, Raynor Guy, Bob Browne and Gerald Lat,ham. Scouts are examined in their ad vancement work by the troop offi cers and other examiners. Often there are several examiners for the same subject. This necessitates a committee to check the advance ment work In order that high stand ards are maintained. -Col. W. H. Paine acted as Judge of the court of honor. Women golfers of the Rogue River Valley Golf club will conduct a point par tourney at noon tomorrow at the club, announcement today said. Luncheon will be served at the club house at noon. (AP) The Cleveland News says that union ized employes of tne Fisher Body company will present to the man agement proposed agreements calling for a 30 per cent increase for the 7000 workmen. Alex Smith of the general .hospital at Wtlkes-Barre said the New Yorker was not given permission to examine the patient.
