ors to the board of the Medford
Chamber of Commerce was made this
morning by W. 8. Bolger, president.
The personnel of the committee is:
C. L. Hopkins, Col. W. H. Paine and
Fred Heath, Jr. Primary ballots will
be forwarded to the complete mem
bership the early part of next week
to be followed by final ballots a
week later.
The following week the entire
board will elect officers and the next
week the annual meeting of the
Chamber of Commerce will be held.
Pear and apple growers, desiring to
reduce their losses from codling moth
worms, should attend the .spraying
demonstration to be held at the
Southern Oregon Experiment station
near Talent, Friday morning at 10
a. m., states L. P. Wilcox, county
agent.
The lack of sufficient amounts of
spray per tree and the uneven dis
tribution thereof are factors respon
sible for poor control of worms to i
greater extent ' than most growers
realize.
The demonstration will help grow
ers to arrive at a method of applica
tion that will insure complete cover
age. Growers Interested should be
present at the time specified.
PRECINCT POSTS
ATTRACTING MANY
A. L. Smith of Derby today filed
for precinct committeeman from the
Derby precinct.
For the first time In many years.
Interest for some reason has been
high in Democratic precinct commit
teemen. Some of the precincts have
three aspirants for the berth. In
normal times, it was difficult to get
a Democrat to run for so lowly an
office. Many of the committeemen
candidates have chosen slogans pro
claiming support of the president,
economy, efficiency, more money and
"the next generation of children."
Democratic leaders aay the desire
to be precinct committeeman "Is sim
ply an urge to show that the Demo
crats are alive."
Cynical Republicans attribute the
filings "to keep from running for
sheriff."
