Visit Friends Here Mr. and Mrs. Ferris Gifford and child of Klamath Falls spent the latter part of the week In Medford visiting friends, be fore returning to their home. They have been on a two weeks'-vacation trip to Portland, Eugene, and other northern points. Blossoms In Bottle A milk bottle, . filled with plant slips, wss brought to the SChamber of Commerce yesterday and placed on exhibition. For the fuschla slip had not only rooted, but produced blossoms within the bottle and under the water line, which formed a very attractive display. In Medford Saturday Professor W. J. Ollmore and Earl Price, agricul tural engineers at Oregon state col lege, were In Medford Saturday con ferring with Mrs. Mabel 0. Mack, county home demonstration agent, about the rural housing survey re cently conducted here by Mrs. Mack. ' Sues for $20,000 Florence Nutt of Grants Pass has filed a complaint against Jean Altchlson Jensen, form er superintendent ot the Josephine General hospital, seeking 20,000 dam ages for alleged burns suffered while a patient at the hospital. She also asks tlOO additional for physician's fee. Mill to Open According to the Grants Pass Dally Courier, the Swede Basin Lumber company, located on East J. Street In that city, will resume operation between April 10 and 15. with about one hundred men em ployed, O. H. Kesterson, owner ssld. The mill has ben shut down since September 22. Reports for Doty Second Lleuten- I ant Percy C. Merrltt, Infantry reserve of Albany, Ore., has reported for duty at the COO district headquarters. Lieutenant Merrltt was previously on duty at Cape Creek camp In the Eu gene district. Visits Crater Lake Miss Alice Car son left the forepart of the week for her home In Portland after a few days visit with friends In this city. While here Miss Carson, who Is a sister of Mayor Joseph Carson of Portland. en Joyed a trip to Crater Lake as well as an airplane ride over the Rogue val ley. Three Cars Collide The car B. M. Drysdale of 704 West Second street, was driving struck the automobile driven by Edna B. Scott, of 61 Rose avenue, and her car struck Jack Wll- i son's parked, machine, a report filed at the city police station shows. The accident occurred at the corner of Fourth and Ivy streets at 1:16 p. ra., Friday. t Garage Burns The garage belong ing to Tom Freed, 206 South Orange street was badly damaged by fire Saturday afternoon at 3:05 o'clock, according to city firemen who ans wered the call. The fire department was also called to the vicinity of the First National bank to extinguish a blaze In the automobile belonging to Bill Murray. The car was slightly damaged by the blaze. Lowman Is Coming Sub-station Commander Jennings D. Lowman of Klamath Falls, will be In Medford Monday and Tuesday, March 26 and 27, to accept a few men for the sev enth and thirtieth regiments of In fantry. Other assignments, Sergeant Lowman stated, will probably be avail able. The seventh regiment Is station ed at the historic post of Vancouver Barracks, and furnishes replacements for the troops In Alaska. The Thirti eth Is stationed at the Presidio, San Francisco, probably one of the most desirable stations In the entire army. Farewell Party Given Just Folks circle Joined with the Alpha Sigma class of the First M. E. church in a farewell social for Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Reed who are leaving soon for Wat sonvllle, Calif. Mr. Reed has been pro moted to manager of Western Auto Supply in that city. Mrs. Reed was presented with a gift from the circle. Clarence Meeker expressed the senti ments of the class, and wished them success in their new location. Several musical selections were given and games enjoyed. Following the pro gram, refreshments were served by the committ in charge. Mr, Reeves 111 O. B. Reeves of Jacksonville Is a patient at the Com munlty hospital this week for medic al care. Reynolds In Hospital W. B. Reyn olds of West Tenth street underwent a major operation at the Community hospital last week. Miss Holmes 111 Miss Ruth Holmes of 101 Crater Lake avenue was taken to the Sacred Heart hospital for med ical treatment Friday. May Tome from School Wayne May, who has been attending the Boeing Aeronautical school at Oak land, Calif., has returned to Medford. Copco Men Return Glen L. Jack son and Horace Bromley returned to this city Thursday night after a busi ness trip to the northern part of the state. Mrs. Shirley Recovering Mrs. A. B. To Visit Here Lillian Owens of Modesto, Calif., arrived In Medford on the Shasta Saturday morning to spend Easter week visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Owens. Mrs. Hunter Goes Home Mrs. B. L. Hunter of 112 King street left the Sacred Heart hospital the last of the week for her home, having recovered from a major operation. Hurd Returns Home Clinton Hurd of the Jobbers Supply company of Portland has returned to his home after spending several days on busi ness In Medford, Ashland and Klam ath Falls. Mrs. Adams Improved Mrs. L. J. Adams of 1000 West 11th street, un derwent a minor operation at the Sacred Heart hospital the last of the week and was reported in a much im proved condition. On Business Trip C. J. Hurd, ag rlcultural engineer for the California Oregon Power company arrived In Medford the forepart of the week for several days' business visit in this vicinity. He was accompanied by D. A. Runyard of the Copco commercial department. Returns from Visit Mr. and Mrs. M. C. Maroney of this city returned to their home here Saturday from Berkeley, Calif., where they have been visiting their son, Dr. William Maroney, instructor at the University of California. They made the return trip by train. George Raft Stars at Craterian Telling the intimate story of the life of world famous dancer, George Raft's latest starring picture, "Bo lero," opens a four-day engagement at the Craterian theater today. In the supporting cast are Carole Lom bard, Sally Rand, the Fan Dancer and Frances Drake. It reveals the long struggle for suc cess by an ambitious youth, who finally achieves fame only by deny ing his emotions, by trampUng on the hearts of the many beautiful women who help him on his way to success. George Raft, himself an Interna tionally famous dancer before he came to the screen, plays the lead ing role and demonstrates the tech nique that made him famous on ballrooms and stages of America and Europe. The Raftero, a featured dance In the picture, embodies a great many of his own original con ceptions. April 10, in the Normal School Auditorium, John Claire Monteith, baritone, will present a unique program entitled "The Ore gon Trail and Indian Days."1 The lecture tells many tales of pioneer hardships and adventure handed down in the speaker's own family some cf them being concerned with Marcus Whitman, Mr. Montelth's creat-uncle.
