In which pupil of the pianoforte Academy Students Present Splendid Musical Program Reflecting great credit upon the musical department of St. Mary's Academy, a St. Patrick's Day pro gram was given In the academy audi torium Prlday night which In the case of several individual perfor mances attained almost professional excellence. The outstanding hit of the evening was made by little Miss Phyllis Reye, a boarder from Grants Pass, & mere infant In size, who sang "Tumble Down Shacfc In Athlone" with all the grace and true tonal quality of a concert performer. Lester Tiptoe Carew Girls' choral class Study Club Gives Time to Ireland Mrs. Glen Fabrlck was hostess to the Book club on Friday. March 16. With Ireland as the subject of the day's study, the luncheon in both food and favors bespoke the Emerald Isle. The centerpiece was an artistic and unique reproduction of the Blar ney Castle.. Following a general program of jokes, verses, and songs, Mrs., Vllm ga,ve a delightful story of the sight seeing trip through Ireland as written by H. V. Morton in his "In Search of Ireland." ' Mrs. Jonas Wold read "In Our Stars" (The World Fitty Years From Now) by Irwin Edman, and gave an informal but Inspiring resume of Ludwig Lewlsobn's "Fallacy of Pro gress". The next meeting of the club will be "Norwegian" with Mrs. Wold as hostess. Hubbards Return From Trip South Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Hubbard re turned the last of the week from a motor trip south, during which time they traveled over 6000 miles, visited relatives and friends and many places of scenic Interest. They were away from Medford two months. In New Mexico they visited the Carlsbad caves and on the return trip the Grand Canyon, Boulder Dam and Death Valley. They were guests in Los Angeles of relatives for three weeks and also visited the L. B. Browns, formerly of this city, in Oakland, Cal. They found good weather in alll cities along the way and were par ticularly pleased to find upon their return here that Medford offered a better climate this spring than any of the others. Mrs. Hnpp and Daughter Arrive From South Today Mrs. Howell C. H&dd and daughter. Jean Marjorte, are expected to arrive here today from Beaumont, Texas to be guests of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Watt. Mrs. Happ Is Mr. Watt's niece and has visited here often, so will be wel comed by a number of acquaintances as well as relatives. Crater Lake Auxiliary Plans Irish Card Party Crater Lake Auxiliary to the Veter ans of Foreign Wars will celebrate St. Patrick's day by giving a card party Monday evening, March 18, at the armory. Mrs. Shores Gives Party for Club Mrs, Orvilte Shores entertained members of her contract club at a lovely party at her home Wednesday evening. Present were Mrs. Alta Pru itt, Mrs. D. R. Wood, Mrs. Umvedt, Mrs. Clayton Whit lock and Mrs. Rena Col He and Misses Be mice Gill, Thel- ma Moore. Helen Wood, Marjorle Llndley, Jean Woodford, Joyce Gage, and the hostess. Activities of Legion Auxiliary Last Monday night was social night for members of the American Legion Auxiliary and the first half hour's program was presented by- the Texas Kid and his pal. T.he rest of the evening was de voted to making of the memorial popples. Refreshments were served by Mrs. Belva Aiken and Mrs. Lee C Garlock. ; - ' The Choral club will meet Monday evening at 7:15 o'clock, with Mrs. Warren Butler. Mrs. Barbara Jennings and Mrs. Earl Foy will represent the Auxiliary on the committee for the Easter Monday ball. Wenonah Club Has Pleasant Party The public card party sponsored by the Wenonah club was held at the Redmen hall on Friday evening with Norma Martin and Gladys Dooms In charge. High scores In bridge were held by Carrie Milnes and Alfred Wolfe, and low scores were received by Ida Cole and Ed Shockel. Ready circle enjoyed a covered dish luncheon at the home of Mrs. Volney Dixon Tuesday. There were 33 members and three visitors present. Degree of Honor Enlovs Annual Dinner At the meeting of the Degree of Honor Thursday evening In the Wom en's club rooms in the city hall, there were 40 people present. The annual potluck dinner was served and de lightful ceremony conducted honor ing the president, Mrs. Elliott, who celebrated her wedding anniversary that day. H. O. Wilson and Mrs. Seller made appropriate talks. Guests, upon entering the club rooms, paid as many pennies as there were letters in their names and re ceived shamrocks, made by Lucille Seller. The program presented included several numbers by the Hanson string quartet. Several solos were sung by Cherokee Seller and a piano solo played by Lewia Parker.
