for 54 years, Mr. Wolfe waa president
of Temple BUl Israel for a score of
years, a 33nd degree Mason, a Shrlner,
past-president of B'nai B'rith center,
a member of the Oerman Aid society,
vice-president of the local executive
board of the Boy Scouts, a charter
member and director of the Lewis and
Clark exposition here In 1905. in ad
dition to many other fraternal and
civic office.
Oregon attended the opening session
of the Pacific Northwest Regional
Planning Conference here today, de
termined to evolve a definite pro
gram to put more men to work on
PWA projects In the region.
The group will plan for a decade
ahead for further work la Una with
President Roosevelt's re-employment
program. Marshall N. Dana, regional
PWA advisor, presided at the meet
ing which win continue through to
morrow and Wednesday.

Jenkltu, president of the Southern
Oregon Newspapers and publisher of
the Klamath Herald and News. Pres
ident Roosevelt's ambitious economlo
recovery program was lauded by the
veteran newspaper man, who ex
pressed hts belief that the so-culled
'New Dear would successfully cure
many of the ailmenta suffered by
this country during the past three

The NRA and the AAA program
of the administration were briefly
described by Mr. Jenkins in hia en
liRhtenlng address. The national re
covery movement la Just an Ideal, he
aid, but the fact that other Ideals
In government have been successful
Jn the past was pointed out by the
Klamath Falla publisher In predict
ing the success of the program as a
whole.
Mr. Jenkins also outlined the
monetary history of the past twelve
months and expressed his opinion
against inflation or further tamper
ing with money. "There seems to be
a tendency for the government to
revert to Its former monetary pol
icy," he said. "This, I believe, la
wise aa the proposed establishment
of a commodity dollar would eventu
ally tend to eliminate speculation In
any form and discourage private in
itiative and enterprise,"
The members of the Rotary club
and their wives will enjoy a dinner
dance at the Colonial club this even-
b lng, Burt Lageson having charge of
this entertainment. Lelth Abbott,
advertising manager for the South
ern Pacific system in Portland, will
apeak to the Rotsrlans next week
upon his interesting travels in Mexico.

aside to study the political and eco
nomic situations. Prices pointed
downward in most categories through
out the session and the close was i
easy. A few specialties resisted, but
