San Francisco Boy Makes

10,000 Fans Cheer Go
BAN PHANCISCO. March 6. (AP)
Prankie Kllck, sturdy little ring
charger of San Francisco, who holds
the junior lightweight title, hsd a 10
round draw to his credit today with
Barney Ross of Chicago, world's light
weight champion. Ross' lightweight
crown was not at stake.
In the face of 34 odds favoring
Ross, the showing of the San Fran
cisco boy in making a close battle
of it was one of the highlights of a
ring setto last night that had 10,000
fana cheering wildly from start to
finish.
Kllck', stirring rallies In the last
two rounds apparently Influenced
Referee Toby Irwin's decision to call
It an even affair. Ringside experts
varied In their opinions. The Asso
ciated Press' score sheet gave Ross
five rounds, with four to Kllck and
one even.
They went through the 10 rounds
at top speed. Ross' boxing was
clearly superior, but he was unable
to perfect a good defense against his
opponent's solid rights to the bady.
The Chlcagoan's left side was bruised
and battered after the bout.
Although he won the 130-pound
title from Kid Chocolate, Kllck out
weighed Ross at 138 pounds to 137 .
Ross la recognized as Junior welter
weight tltleholder In, Illlnola end
California and he risked this syn
thetic crown which Kllck failed to
lift.
After a fairly even first session.
Kllck landed cleaner punches to take
the second. Ross outboxed his rival
to win the next four and the eighth.
The San Franciscan had an edge in
the seventh, ninth and tenth with
Jolting body blows.
Oross receipts were $16,376.
