Of the more than 1000 rioters ar rested in the two days of disorders in Paris, 68 were tried today. Nine were tent to Jail for terms of eight days to three months the charge: "Win dow breaking and hitting rival dem onstrators." The other 49 were released, as well as the rest of those arrested. In the eight days rioting which preceded that of Tuesday and Wed nesday, 3000 persons were arrested, held overnight and discharged. Sky Map of Entire Country Planned By New U. S. A dally map of America's ireather three or four miles up In the sky, showing condl- j tions prevailing in the upper air over the entire nation at once, will be the 1 basis for a plan of Increased accur-1 acy in forecasting now In preparation.1 Actually there will be a series of sky weather maps prepared dally, per haps several times a day, showing temperature, amount of moisture In1 the air and wind direction at different levels up to three or four miles. They will be part of the forecasting sys tem known as 'alr mass analysis" which the new chief of the weather bureau, Willis Ray Oreeg, plans to Introduce on a large scale. Planes to Chart Air. - Dally, under this plan, airplanes of the weather bureau, army and navy will zoom up from airports at 20 to 23 strategic points over the United States. They will climb to 17.000 feet or higher, carrying Instruments that make an automatic record of temper ature and moisture of the air from the ground up and back. At the same time small pilot balloons will be re leased end their drift at different levels watched to learn how the air is moving. The maps made from these data will fit one above another like the floors of a building, and will give an accurate picture of behavior of the warm and cold masses of air whose movements ere the cause of weather changes which government scientists seek to predict. Root, of AM Weather. The meetings of these masses ars at the root of all weather, Gregg ex plains. The warm air, full of mois ture, moves up from the south, rides over an advancing mass of heavy, cold polar air along what Is known as a "warm front." The rising warm air Is cooled. It moisture condenses and falls as rain or snow. Meanwhile the cold air is pushing under the warm air mass on another so-called "cold front." This causes another kind of weather, short, gusty squalls of rain or snow, over small areas. Sharp changes of temperature and wind direction go with both types of weather. Duration and severity of such storms depend upon the wind direc tion, amount of moisture In the air and the angle and speed at which the warm air rises. Much of this, says Gregg, can be predicted by the method of air mass analysis. Gregg served 16 years as head of the weather bureau's aerological di vision before being appointed the new bureau chief by President Roosevelt. (AP) The city Jail at Warrenton was described by the Clatsop county grand Jury today as unsanitary and as no fit place to confine prisoners. Condi tions at the Jail were characterized as "Intolerable," and the report said the bedding and furnishings were "filthy." Irene Morrow, arrested last week by state police for federal officers, on charges of conspiring with Ed Davis In violation of the Mann act. was taken before V. 8. Commissioner Victor A. Tengwald this morning by Deputy U. S. Marshal C. C. Wells, and bond was set at $1500. Miss Morrow, according to arresting officers, allegedly conspired with DavU to transport Betty Poue, alias Betty Smith, into Oregon frum California. Miss Smith is now serving sentence In the county Jail for vagrancy. It. is expected Miss Morrow will attempt to make bond. She Is repre sented by Attorney E. E. Kelly. Deputy Wells said that he will probably go to Portland early next week to take Davis, held under 13000 bond. Miss Poue's bond, as a material witness. Is 91000.
