STATE SENATOR
George Dunn of Aahland, senator
from Jackson county, U being urged
by friend to again make the race for
the leglalatlve post, where he U recog
ntted as a conservative leader, and
constructive worker.
Senator Dunn said this morning, "I
have reached no dennlte decision as
yet, but expect to make up my mind
one way or the other within the next
two or three days." Senator Dunn
said a number of citizens of the
county had asked him recently about
his plans. He has served four terms
In the legislature.
William N. (Parber Bill) Carle, Ap
plegate farmer and dairyman, visited
In town yesterday and stated the
"state senatorial bee Is still buezlng
In my bonnet.
"If Senator Dunn runs, It will be
a pleasure to be beaten by such a
good man," Carle stated. He also said
"the time has come for the farmer
to start thinking' Carle said he would
not run for the lower house, aud "It
will be senator or nothing."
The local campaign has been
marked so far by dearth of "self
starters." There also are signs that
the people, profiting by experience,
will be more careful In tholr primary
elections. The voters are "weighing"
the prospective candidates more than
m 1933.
A "secret" meeting Is reported as
being held Monday night In a house
on South Central avenue, when can
didates were discussed. There were
IS people at the meeting. A candi
date for sheriff, heretofore men
tioned, was "pronounced all right,
but he has no chance." There was
one slightly "fiery speech," and a
pleasant time was had by all, ac
cording to Information.
The final date for filing la April 8.
To date Robert E. Bell has filed for
sheriff and Jesse L. Nell has filed
for precinct committeeman from the
Bell view precinct. Both are Demo
