S T L V I M Oregon Control Board Sees No Objection to Taking Own Supply of Liquor Into Public Dining Places PORTLAND, Jan. 28. (--Although hotel and restaurant will not be permitted to dispense hard liquor un der terms of the Knox law, the Ore gon liquor control commlAslon feels a person may take his own liquor to such a place- and drink It In any manner he dealrea. "As long as the Individual does not create a disturbance or the place be come a nuisance," Chairman McMor ran of the commission said, "a person can take hts own liquor Into a res taurant or hotel and do his own drinking publicly In the manner ho deal res." Illicit Hale Is Target. ' "The thing to be eliminated. In the operation of the control law," he continued, "Is the Illicit sale of liquor and the attending lawlessness. If the act la universally supported, temper ance will be ultimately achieved." Plve state liquor stores wll be ready for operation In Portland, February 10, according to George L. Sammis, state control administrator. He satd a store at Salem will be opened the next day, and one at Eugene th day following. Stores and agencies In other cities of the state will be open ed rapidly from then on. To Get Training. Those selected to operate the Salem store will work in the Portland stores on the opening day; those who w:ll operate the Eugene store will work in the Salem office on the day that es tablishment Is opened, ami the same process .vlll be employed in training emplo s who will operate stores in other jectlons of the state. Warrants Must Be Paid. The opinion was requested by the liquor commission In Tier of the ac tion of Klamath Falls to test the con stitutionality of the act. The attorney-general held that all warrants for expenditures must be paid until such time as the entire act Is de dared unconstitutional, Attorney-General I. H. VanWlnkle added that Indications point It im probable that the law would be de clared unconstitutional, namely that section referring to operation within Incorporated cities. He held the act waa legal until declared otherwise. Each morning the nets line up at the mesa hall door for breakfast a bowl of condensed milk for the cats, craps of bacon and fried potatoes for the dogs, and bread for Annie. And while waiting lor the mesa cal., Annie and Tut get their morning ex ercise. Tut has painfully Irarned a warlnees for Annie's sharp front hoofs. When Tut barks, Annie will piourettt nd retreat in her pogo-stlck man ner, with the bulldog recovering and snapping fiercely at her.
