Drummond, county health officer, deacrlbed th work of hl of fice to members of he Medford Rotary club at today's luncheon meeting at the Hotel Medlord. Interesting casee handled by Dr. Drummond' depart ment were cited In the speaker's out line of the activities, alms and ac complishments of the county health department. "We aim at the prevention of dls am&" Dr. Drummond told the Botar lan. "This Involves the task of find, lng and Isolating contagious cases and a great portion of our time and energy la directed along this particu lar line. Every case that la found and success fully handled to prevent the spread of disease result In many dollars saving to the county as well as an actual saving of life In many Instances." Diphtheria was especially mention ed by the speaker who pointed out to Rotary members his department's splendid work In Immunizing chil dren, the Initial step In stamping out this costly and dangerous disease. The health department's work on typhoid cases was also described by Dr. Drummond and one well publi cized and typical case of the results of the spread of typhoid germs was cited. "In combating tuberculosis, the task before health officials Is finding active cases so that steps may be taken to Immediately Isolate them" Dr. Drummond said In telling of the county's work In fighting this disease. Medical examinations In schools and regular calls upon county school children were mentioned by the speaker. Every student la checked and medical attention Is arranged for when necessary, he said. Dr. Drummond was Introduced by Fred Heath, Jr., who had charge of today's Rotary meeting under the direction of Program Chairman Glen Smith. Refreshments from sunny southern California, sent to the Med ford Rotary club by "Augle' Johnson, formerly of this city, were enjoyed at today's ' luncheon. J. H. Cooley, Charles Cooley and Dr. R. N. Stearns were guests at the meeting. At the Rotary luncheon next Tues day, George Henselman and Lee Bish op will debate on the subject: "Re solved; That an International medium of exchange based upon commodity values will stabilize world trade." These two members were especially selected to present both sides of this widely discussed subject and Rotary members are eagerly anticipating the hot debate. Appointed to the board last June for a four-year term, he waa a retired lumber man from Tllamook Bay, Ore gon. He was born In Philadelphia and graduated from the University of Pennsylvania. (AP) Fire, of an undetermined origin destroyed a large onion warehouse and contents on the Hayes Lablsh farm about nine miles north of Bnlcm at 4:30 o'clock Tues day.
