I. S., of Jackson ville, held annual installation of of flcera, following the regular meeting. Past Grand Patron J. H. Hardy of Alpha chapter No. 1, Aihland, wu present, also Plorlne Severance, grand chaplain of Oregon, and Bather San derson, grand representative. Many other guest were present from neigh boring chapters and Warren lodge No. 10. Masons and their ladles wire In vited to share this occasion. . Retiring Matron Ethel Bell and re tiring Patron V. T. Wilson gave ad dresses and thanked the chapter for honors and courtesies extended dur ing their yesr. and then the patron presented to the chapter, on beluli of himself and matron, a most beau tiful star In the emblematic colors and Illuminated in colors, which will adorn the chapter room and add much to the work of Initiation. Mrs. Bell was presented with a beautiful past matron's Jewel and Mr. Wilson with a psst patron's button. besides both receiving many lovely girt from tneir many rrienas. Members prominent In the work of the order were called upon for speeches, which were much enjoyod by all present. A short recess was declared to pre pare for lnstallstlon. Lulu Saulsbury of Adarel chapter No. 3 was Installing officer, assisted by Jennie Rlddell, marshal; Plorlne Severance, chaplain, and Esther Sanderson, organist. Roll call of officers to be Installed was made by the marshal as follows: Anna Cater, worthy matron; Ed mund B. Bell, worthy patron; Ruth Severance, associate matron; Ernest Larurley, associate patron; Alllean Maxwell, secretary; Anna langley. treasurer; Bthcl B. Bell, conductress: Virginia Pick, associate conductress; Luella Dunnlngton, chaplain: Jennie Riddell, marshal; Plorlne Severance, organist; Violet Wilson, Adah: Mollis Brltt. Ruth; Nell Pick, Esther; L.uiu Ssulsbury, Martha: Myrtle Merrl field. Electa: Lola Mclntyre, warder: Atel T. Lundgren, sentinel. After a splendid address by the worthy matron and a few remarks by the worthy patron, the visitors were asked to retire, and the chapter was closed In regular form by the newly Installed offlcera.' All were then In vited to the dining room, where tables were arranged for 89 guests. The room ws besutlfully decorated by the committee under the able man agement of Anna Langley, as chair man. In the decorating the star col ors were carried out with dishes, can dles and flowers. nuslncss Women Sponsor Luncheon Tomorrow The Business and Professional Women's club will sponsor a luncheon tomorrow in the club rooms of tho city hall, to which alt business women of the city are Invited. She was a prominent leader In young Democratic clrclea of the state dur ing the 1032 campaign and haa since continued In that position. Mr. Macadam, secretary of the royal institute of international affairs In London, Is the son of the late Dr. and Mrs. Stevenson Mscsdsm of Edin burgh. He wss an English delegate to the conference of the Institute of Paciflo relations In Banff last sum mer, where he met his bride, who also attended the conference aa a member of the American secrotsrlat. Legion Auxiliary Plans Card Parties The American Legion Auxiliary will entertain thla month with a series of benefit card parties, it was an nounced today, with the first two scheduled for Thursday of this weok. It reads: Portland friends are Interested In announcements received during the past week of the marriage ot Miss Marlon Olive Sten, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Sten of St. Helens, to Dana Stuart Cole of New York, son of William Henry Cole of Boston. The ceremony was performed on Christ mas eve, 1833, In Paris, culminating a romance which began on shipboard during the previous summer when the two young people were en route to Europe. Merrltt presented i petition with 17 signatures, reeom mending Childers, Oeenbrugge And Erickson. Fliegel and Stephenson were nomi nated from the floor by delegations attending the meeting. Council roan George Porter, acting mayoMn the absence of Mayor E. M. WllsoiC presided at the meeting. No more recommendations will be re ceived, the meeting having been called for that specific purpose, and It was announced at the close of the seaslon that It would not be necessary to presejit any petitions to the coun cil recommending the same or other men for the position. All Good Men The five men proposed are all good men, councllmen stated this morning, adding that they were very apprecia tive of the cooperation given by resi dents of the first ward In presenting nominees for the appointment.
