Little else Is known, but announce ments are eagerly awaited for It has been a long time since that certain sort of grandeur has been brought to local society. PIANIST HOME IN TRIUMPH Yeoman Pupils to Play in Recital Effte Herbert Teoman will present her ptsno pupils In recital at the Baldwin piano Shoppe Wednesday evening. January 10, at 7:30. A part of the program will be given by the pupils from ages 4 '4 to 18 years who Have completed 13 lessons of the Curtis class piano course. Four pianos will be used for ensemble playing. Luther Leaguers En joy Dinner December 31. the Zion English Luther Leaguers, had a dinner about 5:30 and a watch party at the church parlors. Ralph Luedtke. president of Columbia L. L. and Marvin Johnson, tieasurer of Pacific Synod were both guests from Vancouver. Washington. Marvin Johnson led the devotional meeting and Ralph Luedtke gave a. speech. Games were played until 11:30, then supper waa served and the league had a short meeting. Degree of Honor Hns Card Party. The Degree of Honor had its first card party of the new year Thursday evening In the women's club rooms of the city hall, at which both bridge nnd 500 were In play. Perry Entertains Garden Club With Illustrated Talk The Medford Garden club held tta regular meeting Thursday evening, the vice-president, Mrs. E- E. Wilson, presiding In the absence of the presi dent, Mrs. T. W. Miles. Alter a short business session, J. A. Ferry told of his visit to the -Buchsrdt Gardens near Victoria, B. C, and of his trip up through the Canadian Rockies. He then showed the moving pictures, which were taken on this trip. These he made were more Interesting with verbal descriptions of- personal ex periences connected with the trip into the high mountains when he and his son hunted big game, two years ago. The program committee announced plans for other Interesting monthly meetings and activities. The club Is taking a. keen Interest in plana for the Jubilee In June and Mrs. Porter J. Neff, representing the club on the C. of C. clean-up committee. Mrs. Couglll Honored At Birthday party Mrs. Ralph CowglU was honored by a number of friends on the anniver sary of her birthday Wednesday, when they surprised her by dropping In for dessert and cards. Daughters, Veterans To Install Officers The Daughters of American Veter ans -will hold their first meeting of the new year Friday at the Armory. George B i Franks In celebrating their golden wedding day. a number of relatives land friends last Sunday, prepared a surprise dinner, which was served at the home of their daughter, Mra. A. B. Shirley. A color scheme of gold wss used at the table, where the centerpiece j was made up of a beautiful wedding cake and gold tapers. Mrs. Xna Huson was seated at the left of the bride and H. C. Mrs. Nordwlck, Hostess To Bridge Club Mrs. Harry Nordwlck entertained members of her bridge club Wednes day. There were two tables of cards in play. The group usually meet on Monday but the session was post poned because of the New Year's holiday. Circle Society Conducts Senslon Circle society of the First Christian church met Tuesday evening in the recreational hall of the church, with Ralph Cook In charge o the business session. "A Chance for an Education" was tha subject for the evening, with Miss Geraldlne Latham as leader. In teresting talks were given by Dorothy Culy, Dorothy Wilson and Helen Smith. Virginia Gregory and Jean Woodford sang a duet, and Marjorle Oregory gave a talk on Dr. William Macklln, a returned missionary from China. After the program games and re freshments were enjoyed. DR.
