The Farm Credit administration
was created In May to carry out
term of two major act of President
Roosevelt's special session of con
gress: the emergency farm mortgage
act and the farm credit act. The
former aimed to bring relief to farm
debtors; the latter to create co
operative facilities for obtaining pro
duction credit, also credit for farmers'
co-operative marketing and purchas
ing associations.
Henry Morgenthau, Jr., wa called
to head FCA and Immediately plunged
into the taak of co-ordinating govern
ment agencies for supplying agri
cultural credit.
